then comes the dynamic queue fiasco, before in league of legends you queued for ranked games either a 1-2 people or a full team. these were different queues. they made it so now you can queue as 1-5 people and removed the full team queue. this means as a solo player you might be facing a 4-man premade in the enemy team while your team is formed of a 3man premade and 2 solos or something like that. since the ladder is the same for everybody, this means a shitter that gets to diamond by playing with 4 skilled friends gets the same ranks with no distinctions as somebody who plays alone and carries games himself. this is especially bad at high ranks where premades are the norm and solo players get bent extremely hard.
they reworked dragons to be RNG. there are 4 possible spawns of dragon and they're all randomly determined once the game begins.
game pace changes and safety nets makes it so aggressiveness is extremely discourages which makes for very boring esports if you care about that.
but more than anything it's the balance, this is the worst balanced season in 7 years.

The worst part is how Riot's handling all of this. Their reaction to how poorly-received dynamic queue was is testament to it. They literally told players "we like this new feature, we don't care if you don't", and decided to fuck it even harder by making the game autofill you into a team in any random role (almost always support) if your queue time becomes too long. -Fucked solo queue badly, if you don't bring your team to ranked, you are fucked unless you're a pro, take it from someone who has always been in platinum since season 2
-Too many changes at the same time on top of the already fucked up meta, item changes because fuck you, character overhauls with no dedication to actual balance, just to shell out more skins, drastical and bad changes to jungle, forcing the new dragon bullshit and mini baron
-Instead of fixing balance and game issues, they launch new characters like it's nothing and begin selling skins shamelessly, case in point is how they released a new thresh skin, made promotional videos and icons, just to have it disabled for almost a week (I think it's still disabled, idk have not checked) because of bugs with said skin

The LoL kiddies finally grew up. They have adult responsibilities and don't have time to get stuck in a 40 minute game. It also gets old playing the same fucking champion over and over to stay competitive. When people start to get bored they'll try to throw in a major update that makes a handful of characters really strong for awhile before silently nerfing them again, all the while bugs or missing features that should have been dealt with years ago are still there.
I predict as they lose more and more population you're going to see them release a slew of big updates and go "Hey look how hard we're working, here's all the stuff you were asking for, please come back"
If we get a couple more games with the popularity of overwatch it would put this game on battleborn tier. And keep in mind, Overwatch isn't even that good, it's missing a ton of features. But it delivers the same kind of winning high that LoL does and serves the same type of players.

Perfect example of this is promo games. Riot has some sort of algorithim that matches you with players who have a history of getting reported a lot, Afking, high death count etc in order to decrease your chance of winning. Meanwhile the enemy team will favor premades or smurf accounts with very high mmr.

This is one of the things I'm absolutely sick of in League, Riot have been these shitty things in that no one asks for and then leaving them in when they're fucking terrible. They literally took a champion to test with and then once they realized that a "Melee ADC" won't work without being stupidly overpowered they just said fuck it, he's fine how he is. Old karma was a worse loss. Yeah she was obviously cheaply made but if you got farm on her and teamed up with a rumble she was a blast. Her heal+AOE allows you to both heal rumble and do massive AOE. Her speed up combined with rumble allowed rumble to be in melee constantly. Her Shield was another insane AOE which combined with rumble his shield made him fucking invulnerable. At first they only made 2 or 3 major changes per season, but it got to the point where every patch made a role relearn the game. I play LoL in S2 and TF was my favorite hero before the nerf.
Basically TF is a Carry Furion, but don't get me wrong because the original Furion can be made into anything because Dota item is more diverse and can changed the role of said hero depend on the optimal build.

Played since season 1 and let me tell you something about this fucking game. This game strings people out on content so fucking bad it's almost criminal. I'm not talking about the level 1 to 30 experience or unlocking a few characters that look cool. I mean the updates, new shiny skins and characters they dangle in front of players every couple of weeks. It's a constant stream of mediocre content that keeps people hooked, hoping their favorite champion gets a cool skin or a new character they like gets released.
But let me tell you what my boy, even that doesn't work anymore. I liked to play mages when I still played and between Vel'Koz and Ow Shin or whatever the fuck his name is I waited for one. It took them over a year to make a new mage and Jesus fuck I was waiting for a good one. Instead, I got the most boring mage in the whole game and they nerfed him for absolutely no reason three times in a row, so he was not only boring. He was bad.
So I was mad but I still played. I heard they had a new mage coming out with a big update for my favorite class on the way. Fuck yeah I thought, this is it, this is why I stuck around. The new mage was one of the top three worst releases in the games history, she fucking sucked. Not only that, but the mage update was a nightmare. It might as well have been called the assassin update since just having one of league's broken assassin's renders a mage fucking worthless.
The balance is a train wreck and don't even get me started on Riot's retarded choices about the queues. You can't stack ANY items anymore and meme build with friends. Dominion and Old Treeline and gone, can't even pick them in custom games. Old characters are under constant threat of rework because it's an easy way for riot to keep people hooked on content without using too many assets. The already boring metagame grows more stale with each passing year. There are still no good player icons. The game is littered with esports ads, I just wanna go back.

Because the games are shorter. It is a different flavor overal. People probably feel they can do more on their own in the form of carrying. At the other hand it takes many of the things that people like from LoL. If you have a good combo you can blow the other team away, which feels great. It worked like this
q: 3 cards, deal damage to everything they pass, better damage and AP ratio than now
w: when activated a random card (blue/red/gold) starts. Most of the time blue. After 3 seconds it goes from blue to red, after 2 seconds it goes from red to gold, after 0.1(!) second it goes from gold to blue. Blue did just X bonus damage and allowed you to pick another card (but pick a card buff lasted only 8 seconds). Red was AoE damage+slow. Gold was AOE stun (1.5 at rank 1 to 5) and did more AOE damage than red. So basically you always want gold. It stunned towers (resetting them of targeting heroes), it did the most damage and was just great. Only problem is that grabbing it is hard. If you pick too early you get red, if too late you get blue (and another shot). So you first trained yourself at the timing (just as red switches out you pressed W, the lag made your pick become gold). Which is easy from blue, but sometimes you started at red or gold, and if you werent pro it could throw off your pick. You could wait till it cycled to blue, but that takes 5 seconds. So basically it was a pretty tense thing to do if you are about to get fucked up.
His E was a TP, something like 70-40 sec CD, 3 sec cast time
R gave vision on everyone, gave 30-50% slow on everyone, and made your blink go in 1.5 seconds. Not only could you kill people with it easily, it also allowed you to save allies by just popping it to slow everyone down chasing them.

I want to ask a question them. I played LoL long ago. Mid 2010 to early 2011. Even back them they had the "no rng" idea, where instead of "20% proc chance", it was "every 5 attacks".
However, there were 2 very large sources of RNG in the game, and they were more often than not game defining.
Crits, and Dodge.
I have seen many many games where situations like a "Jax or a Yi dodging 2 hits from the enemy AD carry while he was hitting crits" completely changed games.
You could even get 10% crit with runes, changing the early game, specially if you got lucky to crit 3 times, killing the blue golem earlier than the enemy jungler.

The very fact that Zed has tormented the game since they put him in that they have never fixed him boggles my brain. Like am I taking crazy pills? He's not even the only character like that, they just leave these ridiculously strong characters in the game for years at a time without buffing their counters or nerfing them. Why should I bother picking somebody like Talon if Zed exists? Everybody playing the game recognizes these problems.
The best they'll do is give the champion a slap on the hand nerf, or a nerf in combination with a "compensation" buff to help the character. That buff ether keeps them just where they are on power level or makes them even more crazy. Also they could consider buffing the counterpicks to some of champions dominating the game, instead of going straight to nerf every single time. The power level of the game has gotten so weak because of it. Glad I still had the sense to drop it.

Let me tell you youngsters about about flash blitzcrank.
Basically in the old days you could shoot your first and then blink while the fist was on its way. When the fits connects it will pull the target to blitz his current location. Now logically riot made it so that blitzcrank (unlike for example amumu) was rooted while shooting his fist. But flash still worked and with that you could pull someone back a lot further. For example if you are on the edge of the turret as blitz you could just hook and flash into the turret. Considering you have to flash before the hook connects it's risky but fun.
Then riot nerfed flash (thank god) to not work while rooted. This was great for morgana and ryze, but blitzcrank just lost his flashhook. Riot naturally never fixed it

The problem was purely that dodge was so effective because with runes and masteries you got ~9% dodge and if you dodged you gained bonus movement speed for 2 seconds. Crit is so high chance that it is rare that it decides a fight. To kill someone as a carry you need to do something like 10 shots and on 10 shots the RNG already evens out. Those few outliers are annoying but not super imbalanced. DOTA has it worse and it works out well enough.
Also jax vs any carry is just asking for trouble. Its unlucky that jax doesnt dodge and the enemy crits 3 times. Not unlucky jax dodges and fucks him up. The guy has around 30% chance to dodge

yup. Insanely broken. His HP boost from his passive+dodge made only magic damage viable, and his HP was so high it just didnt work.
Guinsoos didnt stack that way, multiple guinsoos only makes you get stacks quicker (3 per ability or attack rather than 1 if you have 3 of them). The cap of 8 is still there. Also the healing was patched out quickly. Phantom dancer was not a good early pick. You wanted AP and AD to hit harder and get more HP so no one could touch you. 20% dodge on low HP isnt useful. Same with crits, your ulti cannot crit. So phantom dancer was only good as 5th item.
btw 2 phantoms+mastery+ninjatabi+rank5E+runes gave 58% dodge chance.

I usually went some mix of AD, armor MR and MS. That way you could farm early on pretty well. Sion was a bitch to farm but his critical mass playstyle was really fun. If your team allowed you to get to a target and chop away you basically had monsoon-tier healing and you deleted whatever you were chopping in 2 seconds.

Found GA shaco more fun. Sunfire always felt like a gimpy strat. But as your survival item it still was great. Same with AP shaco and 90sec boxes. You could start stacking at 13.30 seconds at barons and get him down with only minimal help.

Strife didn't do particularly well so they (in secret) sold the rights to some Chinese company and then vanished for over half a year.
