>>342310529
I preffer Princess Pride, personally.
I really wished they implement cross fusions in the BN games. Yes I know the SF games are basically that, but I would like to see that in the BN universe possibly when Lan is an adult or something

I've amused the idea of making some sort of BN/SF styled game for PC, but it's hard to make something of that magnitude alone.

Yes, if you start out of order, you'll cringe at 1. It's "unpolished" for being the first one, like the original classic Mega Man 1 compared to everything that came afterwards.

>>342320345

>>342322270
BN3 Blue
It doesnt help that I suck at folder building.
>>342321485
A number of things: time, chip usage (using the buster will never get you an S), multiple deletions, times you get hit (it's actually times you flinch, which is why SuperArmor is so useful), even how many squares you move.
That's for viruses, bosses are more lenient on these, so usually it's just a matter of time for them
What the best BN game? I remember enjoying colonel but I remember some tactics minigame or some shit that was really dumb and ?I dropped it.
>>342322491
I don't remember much about 3, but S is usually a good code because of swords
>>342322554
It's really subjective, but I preffer Double Team DS the most.
>>342322491
Start with the basic S folder, get lots of airshots and * chips or make a F folder and get flashman megachip to start farming new chips from stronger viruses.
>>342322893
What's so good about flashman?
>>342323201
Paralyses everything in the field and does decent damage. In the paralysis state, enemies dont have mercy invencibility, you can spam AirShot *
>>342323201
Flashman hits everything and paralize
Ice stage+Flashman = double damage = easy chip farming
>>342323201
He's a miracle.
>>342322768
2 was dark as fuck for no reason. The whole plot just revolves the grey haired kid's parents getting Bane'd and then tries to destroy the world. Not to mention he actively tired to kill Lan and other top Net Battlers. Lan even swears and fights against Megaman bunch of times too. Comic Mischief indeed.
>>342322860
Yeah, pretty sure that's what I was playing, was there a tactics section or something? if so was it as bad as I remember?
For trying to find Flashman in ACDC 2(BN3) does using Sneakrun work?
>>342324014
yes, if you have the Battery navicust part you should equip it to find him faster.
Here's an idea. If Capcom is reading, you can have it.
>Mega Man Battle Network game for 3DS
>Downloadable from the eShop so the cartridge slot is open
>You insert battle chips into the cartridge slot
>>342323791
It was terrible in the GBA version. The DS version was kinda fun because there was a mechanic that lets you switch between Protoman and Colonel navis and they gave you a bunch of bonuses if you had any GBA game in the cartridge. The whole game felt like a gimmick but it was as if the game was designed for a DS in mind. Also BN 5&6 has a direct connection with each other if you play Colonel and Flazar. So I recommend those two.
>BN3
>extremely early game, jack in to some random place in the teacher's lunge
>find three hornets that have around 160 hp
>one single hit from them sends me into the red
Such a dangerous virus for early on
>>342323791
I don't recall any tactics section unless you mean Liberation Missions in which you had to "Liberate Panels" using different navis.
>>342324487
It's a rare virus, chances of getting it are super low but it can happen.
>>342323791
BN2 was a doozy. To be fair, MMBN1 and 2 feel really, REALLY weird compared to the rest of the series.
Also magic radiation that merges the real world with the internet.
>>342323791

No worries, folder building in BN3 is pretty ass. You could find a Custom Style (Elec Cust) and abuse B code. Theres also F and P code. Theyre broken as fuck. Throw in a folderback maybe. S code is the easiest to build but its pretty novice.
On the bright side folder building is much better in 4/5/6. Everything sorta works even if youre running multicoded chips thanks to Souls giving chips bonuses.
>>342327941
Building decks is based primarily around luck. Because you can crank those fucking Chip Traders all fucking day and not get the chips you need.
>>342327941
Why is the S code good?
>>342328101
Most common code.
>>342328101
in all the games S code is pretty standard, almost always based on swords, and always having at least 1 navi with S code.
>>342327941
P code is strong as fuck if you're playing the Wii U version, because you have instant access to Punk. All bets are off once you get the Wristband and have a few Plantman chips thrown in.
>>342328030
S code is easy to run into. Also early game you should be trying your best to replace all the chips you can with their * codes like healing/support to prevent alphabet soup. That covers some swords IIRC.
Also if youre playing on an emulator, use savestates. All the chip traders have a select pool of chips, so if you need a specific chip with a code thats trader only, you can just reload the savestate.

>>342330668
>>342330973
Story matters in Battle Network the same way it does in Paper Mario. You think it's not that important, but it adds a LOT to the experience, and if it's gone you realize how much you miss it.
BN2's cuh-ray-zee plot and minimal filler (has the least amount in the series no joke, between dungeons you just have to do a Netbattler License test at worst unlike other games) ,outside of the FreezeMan scenario, makes it the most fun to replay in my opinion.
I absolutely loved the combat when I first played MMBN1 but I didn't like the net layout and found it annoying to navigate.
I've never played any of the Battle Network series past what I played of 1 (I never finished it), should I play through 1 so I can fully appreciate it when I move on to later installments or just skip it?
I'm planning on playing through themon my Wii U.
>>342338901
1 is pretty short. I replayed it a while back and beat it in 9 hours with an alphabet soup folder; if your folder is good thus making battles faster it might take you even less time.
There's an important plot revelation at the end of BN1 that's only explained then, and then brought up repeatedly during climactic moments of BN2-6 without explanation.
You'll be happy to learn that internet navigation, atmosphere and the battle system is stepped up a significant amount in BN2 and every game since. It's hard to go back to 1 after playing the later games.
Basically; if you can enjoy it for what it is, beat BN1. If you feel like you're REALLY forcing yourself through it, skip it, read about the plot twist at the end and then play BN2.
>>342340725
I believe no amount of bumping can save this thread, but we can try!
I got the 1-4+6 CIAs installed, especially nice since the 3DS scene figured out how to remove the dark filters and ghosting, and the Double Soul version of 5 for my flash cart.
Time to marathon. Any advice on proper folder building? I was never very good at that.

It stops at episode 13, I believe.
>>342320468
I wish I had the dedication to maintain a porn collection.
Or the lack of shame to not worry about having it on my HDD.
>>342342040
Pick two chip codes and only have chips of those codes in your folder. You might not have the absolute strongest chips this way but it guarantees you can AT LEAST pick 3 chips per turn, making battles end faster and getting you higher ranks
>>342311390
The story itself is your standard MMBN stuff, so you won't miss too much.
It's definitely a decent, work-in-progress game.Much better than Chrono X, actually.
I'm kind of sad that there aren't a lot of MMBN fangames; with a fun battle system like that, you'd think there will be more of them, but nope.

You can through most of the game using soup since 1 strong chip + *chip can S-rank most of the trash. There isn't really point of early strict folder management because they get obsolete rather quickly.
Late game when you can no longer instakill enemies you should limit yourself to a few codes and consider using P.As
There is no way you can have 20+ of good chips of the same letter early in game.

Most people have something different than Star Force in mind when they talk about BN7.
SF's combat system just doesn't hold up when compared to Battle Network's. It's an alright series on its own but it fails to be a proper successor to BN.
>>342358728
BN2, BN3 and BN6 are considered the best games of the series while BN1 is generally considered to be very bare bones. Many people will argue generally any BN game is better than BN1

I'm genuinely curious; how is it not the same? I mean, you don't get to play with Lan and co., sure, but I don't think that's too much of a loss.

>>342315078
Because he's that trope done correctly, on top of being a real match for the player.
That said, I prefer the purple lines on the orange scar design, as opposed to the plain boring lines that we got.
Maybe he should have had no lines, coming from an early era of the Internet where there weren't even female-shaped Navis.
>>342351002
Yeah, BN7 wouldn't happen.
It'd be MMBNX.

In 6 the sensor chips get whacky combos with coming road, going road and wind stuff. Since the beam lingers on hit, and paralyzes and pierces invisible, you can then knock the. Back and bring them forward repeatedly to rack up hits like crazy.
>>342367105
tfw you can never get the feel of starforce from any emulator...
what's the point
>>342366053
Aqua Beast makes the game super easy because the charged water tornados fuck up pretty much every boss.
>>342367652
Yup. Plus healing using Aqua chips and chargeable tri arrows made it hella broken.
Playing Star Force 1 right now for the first time.
>can only move left and right
>lock-on is unpredictable; since lock-on attacks are essentially 2-second cutscenes where you have no control you can barely control if an enemy launched an attack at the panel you were at or if you get hit just as you're going to start attacking thus cancelling your move
>against the first mini-boss (Jammer) lock-on is near-useless because he moves so fast that whenever you teleport to him he's moved away
and lock-on is necessary in this game because it's the only fucking way you can reliably use chips like Sword or MiniBomb due to not having a full range of motion like BN
Don't get me wrong it was still an easy fight, it's just that I feel like my attacks "miss" not because of a lack of skill but due to the way the game is designed.
Take Fire Wheel for example. You're stuck in a spot as a wheel of fire goes forward and back to you. During this time if there is more than one enemy on screen you *WILL* get hit by something because you can't move. In BN, similar moves like Yo-Yo stuck you to one spot for less time, but that's not the point; you also had 9 panels to move in so picking a spot you'll attack from was strategic. Since there are only 3 movement panels in Star Force there's 0 defensive strategy involved.
Fuck, I wish I was replaying BN.
Hey guys, have you heard of this extremely rare chip called "IceBall M"?

So is Battle Network just a different chain of events from regular Mega Man?
I know the basics of how Light's project got picked instead of Wily's robots, but does that mean both Classic MM and EXE both have the same point of origin? Or should I not even consider EXE's Light and Wily to be the same?

That's just the fandom's interpretation of where the "branching point" in history may be.
Though there are many parallels and things that fit, there's absolutely no confirmation that the two are in the same world at all.
>>342383982
Fair enough. I don't know what's fan bullshit and what's canon anymore. Been a long time since I played any EXE but sounds like I need to replay the games.
>>342383821
IIRC, the years are incorrect, too. 200X, 20XX, etc. Besides, Classic Dr. Light was always all about robots.
So it's not the same point of origin. Perhaps a parallel universe.
>>342384104
To be fair, probably neither does Capcom.
>>342383821

Besides, the world was going to hell each BN game, except you stop it.
>>342384350
Cept light didn't really fuck up the world though. At worst it'd be Cain. 20XX was relatively peaceful other than Wily occasionally blowing things up (we have no indication of fatalities anywhere). Mega Man pretty much kept 20XX under control. Also remember that MMBN had it's share of close to world-ending events. (the climate getting hacked, anyone?)

Most of the time, my only real contribution is my Navi getting stolen forcing the main character to rescue her! My personality is extremely basic, harmless and not unlike a white-painted wall! You'll probably only like me for my character design but not give a shit about anything else I say or do!"

I will definitely use this trick if I ever get into gamedev.
C-Can we talk about Starforce too? SF3 has one of thee best final boss themes, and SF2 has the best boss theme that isn't surge of power or great battlers

>>342393917
>1. RUNNING THROUGH THE CYBERWORLD
my nigga
Honestly, the whole series had top tier soundtrack.
>>342394058
Yes. The only difference between Gospel and Gregar is that the former is man-made while the latter happened naturally. Both are results from an extreme accumulation of bugfrags.
>>342394312
Both were the results of bugging the hell out of a program with bugfrags.
For some reason, glitching the fuck out of something in MMBN-land ends up in giant wolves.
However, while Gregar ended up unglitching itself, Gospel is beyond being patched to work properly.
>>342394312
>>342394058
The origin is only similar if you played Gregar Version. Which, I'd say, is the correct version, seeing as Gospel occurred by an accumulation of BugFrag, same way as would have Gregar.
>>342394261
Yes, but in MMBN, Dr. Light doesn't even make it to 200X. Of course, in Classic, he's still kicking well into 20XX.
>>342394312
Forgot to quote you too in this post: >>342394701
>>342394717
MMBN Dr. Light actually got laid instead of making robots and calling them "muh famlee".
And he sealed himself with Alpha, too, it wasn't a natural death.
>>342394716
>For some reason, glitching the fuck out of something in MMBN-land ends up in giant wolves.
At this point, the BugFrag travel in a pack. Wolves are pack animals. Something about the natural design of being a wolf (plus that the 'Net was made by humans, imitating nature).
>>342394994
It is possible that the years line up if we tweak when Wily and Light's partnership started and that Dr. Light's life expectancy changes.
Even then, there are still issues.
He's called Dr. Hikari.
MMClassic takes place on roughly Earth with Light's Lab somewhere in Colorado, while the MMBN world's map looks different.
Etc.

>>342395454
They're parallel universes though, they don't have to be 100% equal.
The matter of fact is that the foundation of the series is "What if Dr. Light (or equivalent in this world) took over network instead of robotics? For what reason would Dr. Wily hate him, then?"

Wasn't that BN2 Sean in the middle? What's he doing in a BN4 arc?

Yeah, I remember how metal Megaman got whenever he went beast out, he was fucking crazy

Sean never happened, Wily disguised himself as the Gospel leader, the anime went really different after BN1 plot

Wasn't this because after being devoured by Alpha Bass never really regenerated? Even when you fight him after defeating Serenade he is more of a rampaging beast with Megaman.exe just trying to put him out of his misery
