I don't know much about Horizon, but I'm going to wager that the game on newer hardware that isn't claiming "9 times the size of Skyrim's map" on hardware compares to other systems that struggled to run Skyrim will be doing anything too grand at the end of the day.
I would love to be excited for it, similar to how I was for Wind Waker's claims of exploration, but I also remember how hype Nintendo made people for TP, and that ended poorly. Add in the fact that the 3D Zelda games tend to have empty and uninteresting overworlds when they're going for size, and yeah, not the best history to support major claims like that.
The closest game I suppose that could really be compared to BotW in a fair sense is Xenoblades X. How did that turn out? I skipped it due to budget reasons, and no friends to play online with.
