Battleborn treats me with respect. It has brilliantly intelligent jokes (The Algorithm is one, long skit in and of itself, and perhaps hands-down the best satire of the Simulated Reality theory I have ever seen), nifty humour, great dialogue, as well as a diverse, charismatic, and sometimes quite deep cast of characters.
It's brilliant, and there's so many moments where it's caught me off guard. Such as ISIC yelling my name in the middle of The Algorithm. Which resulted very much in 'oh, eff you, ISIC' as I'm easily startled. It was great, though. That's a brilliant joke to pull if you can get it right.
Ultimately, Battleborn is clever, and Gearbox thinks I'm clever enough to appreciate their clever. Thanks Gearbox!
Now, I could either have a game that's so diverse, characterful, charismatic, and has more of an identity and a personality than so many others from this year or however many prior...
