You have to understand that the game is on a broken pre-release version of the Source engine anyway: they didn't get the whole engine because Valve wanted to show off Half-Life 2 with it, and couldn't let Vamps steal the show.

There's a core of truth; Wesp does add a lot of changes, some of them broken and unfinished when he introduces them in the patch, but most of them relatively good.
Somehow Tessera convinced himself how great he is for not being like Wesp, yet dedicated entire threads and a whole essay on how he's better then him, with the first argument literally being "He's German, they're dumb.".
His butthurt was then fueled when people found out he used Wesp's code in his "True Patch", then Wesp introduced the Basic and Plus versions of the UP.
Eventually he just snapped and walled himself off, his autistic "HE'S WRONG I'M RIGHTEOUS BLOW MY E-PENIS" eventually got him cast out of practically everywhere.
There's a reason most people never heard of his True Patch, because it does less then the UP, and if you don't want the UP additions and restorations, you can use Basic.

The only good thing that came out of that was the new clans and disciplines (The new disciplines were VERY well done, best mod disciplines yet by far, good enough to justify the whole project). Other than that, they added COMPLETELY unnecessary combat sessions in locations that made no sense for enemies to be in, while also pumping all the previous and newly introduced enemies full of super steroids, making the combat even more difficult, as if it wasn't enough of a drag already. All around mess in the new writing content department. Bugs all over the place, grammar errors, unfinished and a whole lot more crap. I just wish the mod was made up of only the new clan models and disciplines, it would be perfect.

There are multiple scenarios for Gehenna.
Because they are end-game scenarios, it is possible to survive them, and really what happens depends on the player characters of that session.
For instance, one of the scenarios involves the Lasombra antediluvian coming out of torpor and essentially enshrouding the entire planet for days. He absorbs his entire clan, and vampires and humans alike have to struggle to survive since permanent night means catastrophic global temperature drops and killing off agriculture.
Eventually, it rains blood for like a day, and its over.

Because oWOD got very convoluted, they ended them and rebooted them with nWOD.
Each line thus got an ending scenario; Gehenna was Vampire's.
Gehenna was White Wolf's ending to Vampire: the Masquarade, every line got an "End of the World" book with five scenarios.
The one running the game would pick one, or craft one themselves, then that was their ending.
So, the End-Scenario would happen (whatever that implied was up to the players), the oWOD ends, and rebooted into their nWOD lines.
Thing is, nWOD was a hit and miss for a lot of people, so they resurrected oWOD as Classic World of Darkness and "never happened" the EotW scenarios.

Yeah players got really attached (for good reasons) to the old clans and their dynamics. The main problem however, is that said dynamics are usually less flexible when you play, compared to requiem where there is less politics, and even old vampire can be fine because they have memory issues.

When I was a teen, I sent a letter to White Wolf (it was part of a class project, we had to send a letter of appreciation or complain to a companie. At the time I was actively playing vampire: the eternal struggle and so, I sent them my appreciation). Boy was I surprised to receive a letter back from them, hand written saying thanks and some kind words, accompanied by Some cards, including Beckett.
