Best classic style mario game? Probably, though I have a hard time deciding between it and three.
But I played super mario bros 2 (USA) for the first time a little while ago, and think it is the best unique mario game. Was strange and fun.

SMB2 is exactly that. All Mario games are different in a way, but somehow SMB2 feels like it is not a Mario game at all even though things like the POW blocks originate here and the differences are actually kind of minor
