i beat Awakening with little effort (and even if that game is shit by comparison , its at least well made)
and i bought conquest the other day
not only does it do a poor job of making me want to side with the Nohr, but when i do (because the game forces me to) all my units get 1 or 2-shotted instantly by everything in the first post-split mission

Conquest is really just something to be played through once so you know that angle of the story before you run into Revelation. Not as easy as Birthright, but not hard enough to make you hate life. Plus you get everything. Revelations for life man.

FE6 and 8 differ a bit gameplay wise, both are still solid games. If you don't grind in FE8, it can still be pretty challenging on hard. Don't expect too much from the story though.
Tellius saga is great with Path of Radience and Radiant Dawn. I recommend those. Some like the later more for its gameplay, others like PoR more, cause the characters and story are more fleshed out. RD also suffers from severe lack of playability of some characters.
Bought the Royal battle DLC and it's fucking worth, 2 more classes, stat boosters, and it's damn fun.
