The term GG has been bastardized to the point where it means nothing to anyone other than to be used as pure shit talking. The only reason anyone would ever say it nowadays is when they know they kicked the enemy team's ass up and down the map and everyone in the match knows it.
No sportsmanship, no humility, just "I'm better than you", plain and simple.
There is no such thing as GG anymore.

This is only true in the massive, shit communities.
In the small-to-medium-sized and/or older communities, people still do say "gg" in sincerity. For example, people say "gg" at the end of each match in the new Unreal Tournament pre-alpha.

I say glhf and ggwp every game. I've been gaming online since 98 and it's just a habit by now. I don't really care if people take it the wrong way, that's on them not me.

People really need to learn the ettiquette rules regarding gg.
It should be said by a member of the losing team first then everyone else can join in, someone on the winning team saying it first is basically saying "wow you guys sucked", unless it's one of those people who say gg as soon as any round ends no matter what happens. I've chewed out my own team mebers who say gg first when we win and when the other team wins, but it only really annoys me when it's said in a blowout game that just wasn't a good game at all.

Why would they? It's specifically a Tribes thing, and it would feel kind of meme-ey in Smite or Paladins.
