I've just had far too much fun with it. SP vanilla is solid, with mods its godly, and MP is amazing.

If you can deal with low res textures and N64-Gamecube level models it actually has better performance on the N3DS than the Wii U since it doesn't actually render enemies that would be at the very edge of the screen. If you're going to play any of the fangames it should definitely be those two. I'd recommend .flow first since it's significantly smaller and shorter (though the tightness of the areas plays into the game's themes in a rather neat way that differentiates itself from other YN-likes).

I think 3 is good. It utilizes Nemesis too much in certain parts. But otherwise it has a dodge mechanic that can be used any time via the "R/R1" button. And that adds a lot to the depth of fights. No, if you watch some of the gameplay video, that same voice that talks to you at the beginning of the game "wake up link" etc. Will remind you where you should go once in a while. It's the Fi or Navigation of the game. So far less intrusive though.

You can do it on a Wii but you have to use GCM rebuilder or something to rebuild the iso. Wii can't read boot.dol files directly. And then you would have to rebuild the iso every single time you wanted to play a new randomization.

Just item locations so that you can replay the game in different orders. You will need to know some glitches and tricks to get through the game. Those are on Metroid2002.
Most things can be accessed though with properly timed double jumps and boost dash jumps. So if you learn those two things you'll be mostly good to go.
