Yeah iirc the engine couldn't do boss battles.
All of the 'bosses' are just regular enemies that run away after you hit them.

there's one actual boss battle in the form of metalhead but even that one wasn't all to great
still a shame, usually boss battles tend to be fairly important in platformers
