Is this series good?
>>342133889
Yes. I have probably close to 300 hours in medieval 2 and it's still amazing. Plus my toaster can run it on high settings.
>>342133889
mostly, yes. shogun 2 is the best modern entry point but other than that just choose your favorite setting
people will tell you medieval 2 is still the best but they are blinded by nostalgia. it aged like piss.
Yes, it's really good. Empire: Total War is my favorite though, many would disagree but whatever yo.

I heard mostly that Rome 2 is the best.
>>342134876
nice bait my friend. mind if i save it for later use?
>>342135263
I mean rome 1.
How'd I fuck that up?
>>342135401
rome 1 was a phenomenal game but it has also aged poorly.
>>342135630
>Rome 1 was phenomenal
How did it differ from Medieval 2?
I was introduced into the series with Medieval, and was like "wtf is this shit" on the ugly Risk style map, but promptly got into it when I was shown the battles. 2 was fucking amazing, and none of the total wars seem to have better music too.

Medieval 2 is much better than rome 1.
>>342136002
rome 1 has the best music in the entire franchise, in generally comfy as fuck, and has a more interesting setting than medieval (like rome 2 and attila, much more clash of radically different cultures)

>rome 1 has the best music in the entire franchise
>best war themes

Can you please link some Rome 1 music? I haven't found anything that compares.

i can't help you with battle themes but over a decade later i still constantly have this campaign map track popping into my head

I go back and play medieval 2 and Rome 1 every couple months and it's always fun. Unlimited fucking replayability. The newer ones aren't as fun but I actually like the Charlemagne expansion for Atilla a lot
>>342139627
Well I found this, and it's kinda ok.

yeah they're pretty great, they're the sort of games you come back to ever year/few months and have a ton of fun trying new things with, plus they have great modding scenes

>people will tell you medieval 2 is still the best but they are blinded by nostalgia. it aged like piss.
i got into the series three years ago and i'm pretty happy saying medieval 2 is the best after rome/shogun 2
commanding units has a really nice, weighty feeling to it and siege battles especially are fun to play
also i don't know how you can say it "aged like piss" given all the problems with it were problems it had years ago and none of them (except gunpowder units) have been remedied in newer games
