I have a i7-4790k and it runs at 60 fps but my brother's fx-8350 has issues keeping it at a constant 60 fps.
But if you're asking about load time and stuff, it's really fast.
I did run into a graphical glitch with the undubbed version though, like a grid appears on a screen in certain towns and I still haven't been able to fix it.

Why the fuck is the Tales team using the incomplete and awful Graces combat system as a template for their games now? I feel that especially in a 3D game there should be aerial combat and it looks like Berseria will also be lacking it like Zestiria. They had some good shit going with Xillia 2 and then just decided to trash it.

Xillia 1 to be honest. I prefer the other games I platinumed. But they also were a boring grind to do. Especially 4050 linked artes in Xillia, and all inn requests and Eleth Mixer farming in Graces f. That is why it took me 3 years to platinum Graces f. I just said fuck it and grinded out the last Eleth Mixer points and shards for dualizing weapons for the inn requests.
I genuinely feel like Vesperia and onward have worse combat than Symphonia and Abyss

I think Berseria will be better specifically because they made Zesty, so they can build on their first attempt in that shitty style. Destiny DC is very different from their 3D games. I have no issue with the CC mechanics. My issue is with this grounded fighting style with arte trees and no aerials that Graces started and it only started because they didn't have time to implement aerials.

I wasn't even talking about but the fanservice but that's a good point. I jut meant conceptually the magic guild thing is a good idea that is wasted because it could be so much more, but just devolved into fanservice and awful plot/focus on the worst characters of Lucy and Natsu. Somehow the main characters are the worst characters, if it was about Gray and Erza or anyone else it would already be better.
But to your point, the inverse is also true. The show would also be better off if they just went all the way with the fanservice and stopped pretending there was anything else going on at this point

More depth is always a good thing. The skill ceiling on Xillia 2 is really high, but the average player doesn't need to hit it to enjoy the game. You can play through the whole game on the default difficulty using on the swords, but if you want the challenge, you're free to crank it up and get cuhrazy

I think Xillia 1 is the second worst mainline Tales game, but Xillia 2 is in my top 3. I dislike the plot of 1, but I've seen people say the enjoyed it. It's obvious that it was rushed and really only had a handful of good moments for me.
Xillia 2 is super polarizing in general, but I do personally really like the story. I got really invested into the main character and his journey, and to me it's got the second best story after Abyss

Berseria will be number 16. Granted I've only played 9/15, but Xillia 1 just underwhelmed me, especially when compared to the others. Also I think Xillia 2 made me retroactively think less of the first game because it improves on it so much.

My first was Symphonia 2. I played it in middle school and I was actually really into it.
I found Vesperia like 5 years later and my mind was blown when I realized it was a spin off and it only got better. It's probably why I love all the games so much and don't even hate Symphonia 2. It also might be why I don't think Symphonia 1 is that special

Symphonia on gamecube. Read about it in nintendo power and then bought it for $15 from blockbuster year or two later. Played it all the way through 2 times, back to back. Then I got phantasia-gba for my birthday, played it a good amount but never finished it because I sold all my gba games, because I was a dumb kid. I also sold symphonia, which i never stopped regretting.
Years later after highschool I got a 360 and vesperia and I've played every released tales since that.

It was so frustrating for younger me to have this game that I personally considered this hidden masterpiece, and want to talk to anyone about it, but having absolutely nobody that cared in the slightest. That's probably why it's my favorite tales to this day though, because of years of telling myself it was a masterpiece and having nobody tell me I was wrong. New tales games, it's like, I know it's shit before I even buy it, because of people playing the Japanese version.

When it comes to /v/ not really but generally people seem to like Vesperia and Symphonia the most in the west. Abyss is also a contender I think. They've been the big three must-plays of the series for a while now since they best represent what people like about the franchise while having such widely different receptions.

One of my favorite video game composer, a lot of pleb dislike his progrock style music and get triggered about Tales having distinctive sound instead of generic bombastic shit.
Also they tend to mistake shit composed by Shinji Tamura and blame Sakuraba for it.
Admittedly, Namco doesn't grant him the times and liberties he needs to make better tunes.

I find that playing all Tales games on the difficulty above default and manual makes for the most fun on my first playthrough
My motivation comes from enjoying playing the game and a genuine interest in the characters interacting with each other. Graces in particular has some great skits even if the plot is weaker and Asbel sucks.

symphonia IS the best tales game, though.
The combat was updated enough from the 2D games yet there's no free-run so you don't completely trivialize every single boss by running in a circle around his moves and then unleashing your 100 hit combo.
On mania the game requires you to use some pretty serious strategy (especially if you're going for the challenge titles) because without free run you have to actively manipulate enemy positions so a boss doesn't just corner your whole party and gank them
The gameplay is actually pretty open, you can do most of sylverant in whatever order you want and before you get the rehards theres a few times in tethealla where the game just tells you to wander the world map and figure out how to get to the next plot area. The only other tales game that has this sort of design is it's prequel phantasia, the rest of them are just following the plot line outside of "backtrack at this arbitrary point to some random fucking town to do a sidequest" The ability to pick your favorite character and slightly change the plot is also a nice bit of freedom you don't have in other tales games.
People are down on the puzzles and they can be kinda stupid but it's a nice change of pace. It's a lot better then later games that are just endless straight hallways that branch off from eachother and "go to two opposite ends of the dungeon and find keys to open the door to the boss fight" over and over.
Likewise the plot isn't the greatest but it's also not trying to damn hard.

it has technical issues out the ass, horrible framerate/loading time issues and a bunch of bugs both good and bad
it is the absolute worst offender for "backtrack to this random town at this arbitrary point and talk to this random NPC without any warning or miss out on sidequests" bullshit. In particular the entire concept of the contamination effect (aka THE THING THAT MAKES THE ENDING MAKE ANY SENSE) is regulated to obscure sidequests that you can permantly miss on starting unless you actively don't progress the plot

That's regarding the plot/characterization. As a game, mechanic-wise and balancing wise it's a step-down from Symphonia due to introducing a new concepts and mechanics but without the time to properly balance them, and it became a complete joke when Destiny PS2 released the next year. That's not very debatable.
Then a lot of stupid mistakes like the way enemy stats are balanced on higher difficulties, the game was rushed for the anniversary and while it's no Xillia/Zestiria it shows.
It still has quite a lot of content as typical from Tales games back then and Guy is a lot of fun to play as. I wish Asch was playable without codes because Luke just feels like poor-mans Asch due to lack of SC.

The thing is though that all of those issues are only really evident after hours upon hours of scrutinizing for them and making it your issue. The Tales series was never perfectly balanced, and often sought to make their button mashing combat workable to be focused more on easygoing fun instead.
I'm not saying what you're listing aren't issues. I'm saying they're just not issues that prevent the combat from achieving what it's meant to, and in truth overall Abyss still has decent gameplay. All the common complaints for it though very understandable are still a considerable league or two away from being good arguments for Abyss' combat being bad as a whole though.

The Combat is old, and Grace/Xillia2/Vesperia/Abyss/Destiny DC are better battle wise.
For the rest it's up to your taste.
In Grace and DC the difficulty is not just about Scaling HP, but require to exploit weakness, do real combos.
In rebirth higher difficulty change your HP recovery on special move, making the gameplay completely different.
In all those game playing from scratch with highest difficulty is fun and rewarding(more exp, bonus for combo, getting title faster, more hi ougi, new tech)
Also in other game i mentioned playing multiplayer and as other character is much more fun.
I played this game more than 20 times and it's far from being the most strategic.
There are some non-linear part in symphonia, but it's not a big part of game.
Symphonia isn't the best tales of game, it's pretty average, remove your nostalgia or play more games from the series.

graces combat is a joke, the enemy weakpoints thing is fake depth because all that changes is that you mash a slightly different combo by hitting button + direction with your unlimited amount of CC. graces combat is like vesperia if you had overlimit all the time and unlimited TP because you just mash out a combo and then it all comes back a second later so you can mash it again. There's zero concept of resource management which means you just juggle enemies to death. it's lame
the only other "tricks" to the combat is which direction you mash to dodge all the bosses attacks and become invincible and nova barriers which do nothing but fuck over pascal and malik
not to mention the AI is fucking trash, game encourages you to play on difficultiies above normal to forge better and stuff but that makes it so you die in 2/3 hits. Which is supposed to be balanced by the invincible dashes but your party members simply don't understand how to use it so they spend the entire fight fucking dead. Trying to keep your party members alive against people like emeraud, the giant pig boss or the dude that constantly calls in reinforcements (kurt?) is a joke because you revive them only for them to die literally seconds later
It's also really stupid that the enemy AI is programmed to dog pile whoever is in the P1 slot (to the point of chasing you around the screen) which means playing a spellcaster is impossible because you get ganked

Yeah, but it always gives you enough time to block. His recovery time is never so slow as to prevent you from blocking the enemy's next attack. I've never found his recovery time to be an issue. Maybe you just suck at holding down the J key after attacking as him.

In Symphonia the meta is around resetting a combo chain when you reach 30 so you don't trigger the enemy overlimit and start a fresh combo, rinse a repeat. Zelos, Presea, Collete etc all have infinites like this, and they aren't hard to pull either.

Tales translation have been pretty bad as of late.
I guess they do the job but out of the top of my head.

You can play Zesteria and Berseria once that one comes out. I think the only 3d tales games you can emulate are Symphonia and Abyss but there's always the 2d ones.

Symphonia has a PC port but you are going to mod a few things before because it's pretty bad.
Zestiria has a PC port but the game is nearly universally reviled. You can try it in a "after it every game will be a step up" way, I guess.
PSP titles are easy to emulate on almost anything, so are the PS2 ones if you computer is a bit stronger.
The thing with Tales is that a quite a few titles are untranslated but there are always translation guides or videos floating around.
