I've refunded the game but I can tell you that there is a decent game in Battleborn. It's just under a terrible art style and is backed by a stupid fucking company. Plus the game ran like shit for me. I don't have the best rig, I have an FX-8350 @ 4.6 Ghz and an HD 7950 OC'd yet the game ran like absolute dogshit even on medium settings.

Gearbox didn't find a pushable feature. All their promo work was weirdly lofty and like another anon said, very 2006. 90% of the visual styling of Borderlands means it (literally) blends in with its ugly browns and greys, it's major trailer was a cinematic one rather than a gameplay one (in which everyone spoke two times too fast to be understood given their baffling accents and off-key stylings) and it conspired to look like a B-lister: a game that the pub knows is crap but has to contractually cover their ass / maybe try recoup off impulse buyers. Nothing about any promotion of Battleborn showed a definitive, cool thing that you could do or feel that the market is not already providing (and more effectively).
A Day-z ripoff, for comparison, to various mobas, their own Borderlands franchise, Overwatch, and the grand daddy of it all, TF2.
Battleborn would have failed even without Overwatch, but what Overwatch did well was set the scene with in game displays of a very straight forward game (Hey look at us we're a very pretty and very polished TF2 clone) and let peoples hype run wild with the pixar shorts.

The characters can work in both but the point of a moba is to level up, get an bojective to get an upper hand or get back into the game, and then win the game by steam rolling. In a death match, you really only win fights, like in Overwatch. In Battleborn, this would be great if the entire map wasnt locked behind a choke point once you lost your sentry. You fight bullet sponge minions that block an entire map against you and out dps you. Then you have to destroy the turrets that can destroy your whole team in a matter of seconds. Then you have to beat the other team again becuase death timers are low. In all of your fighting, the other team had time to get the big uber bullet sponges becuase half the map is blocked to you, the losing team.
It isn't that you just need to in a fight in BB. You have to fight an entire horde while the enemy gets a win plus free power ups simply becuase you made onre mistake and lost your sentry, the only thing stopping the curbstomp fest. If there were no minion, no sentry, then this would be totalty fine. Meltdown is the closest thing to that.
