ME Catalyst is pretty much the only cyberpunk game that came out recently. The city is beautiful at night and it has free roam so it's comfy as fuck.

Watchdogs is actually pretty good, despite the backlash, it actually does make you feel like you are some leet hacker with the entire city at his fingertips.
The setting is frustratingly grounded though. Apart from the digital trips it's pretty much just modern day America.

I played through the thing recently since it was like 15 bucks and actually had a good deal of fun. Especially car chases, being able to fuck with bridges, make the road explode, spike traps, good times. Also once you unlock the ability to cause blackouts at will and murder dveryone before the lights come back is hella satisfying. I just wish it had a way to lock the d/n cycle to 'night and perpetually raing'

I think the fact they're cooperating with the original creator in order to create the 2077 setting is cutting into development of the game. Witcher games had pretty much complete freedom, aside from consulting Sapkowski with something map related, it was CDPR's choice to stick with Geralt and be faithful to source material. Only reason why Mike Pondsmith finally agreed to license his property to someone was BECAUSE they'll be sticking to it.

One of my favorite games and it's completely free. Everything cyberpunk about it was done excellently. If they were to release Neotokyo as a full game (kind of like insurgency did) it would be huge. Especially since people are excited about cyberpunk 2077 and were hyped for prey2.

Well, it's not really a revival so much as a derivative. It's really a mix of several 80s genres and modern stuff (it varies a lot given that there's only a few artists and they do things differently) so it's not a straight-up revival the way many other genres experience it.
