Gore Magala is the kind of monster that seems unfair and hard as balls the first few times but eventually you learn that he's probably one of the more fair and fun fights in MonHun. His hitboxes are really kind and attacks generally telegraphed.
Now Shagaru Magala on 140 GQ on the other hand... That's genuine bullshit.

I found Lance to be a great weapon against Garuga.
You can step the quicker moves, or just guard it when you get the sense it's gonna charge forward or do the beak slam.
And then you can easily poke the parts you want to poke.
Getting that charge sense is really important though. Feels good when you can stare down a Garuga and predict what it's gonna do.

Tidal Naja has pretty much reversed hitzones. The weakest parts are the back and the tail.
The back legs aren't as weak, as they used to, but can still be used to trip it often, to get access to the back.
With a GS you shouldn't have much problems fighting her, or any other monster, really.

As someone who just picked up gunlance in MH4U I really have fun with it. I'm new to the franchise though, but got MH4U at the start of it's life and played most swax and chax. I still really enjoy gunlance even if it's shit, I wanna play it in X too.
Also, online monsters are scaled harder. Don't worry about doing bad because unless you cart a ton in solo, you won't be carting often online. The only other tip is don't shell your comrades if you stick with gunlance.
People say CB got nerfed a bit but how fugged is it really? I know it's abilities are pure shit but in terms of DPS how does it fare up? What about it's knockdown potential?
I mained CB in MH4U because muh guard points and now I need to relearn a new weapon. Gib me ideas.

I main GL in 4U and been using it all the time in regular non-guild quest missions and have never gotten the boot. It's even Wide GL too. Just play extra careful, as long as you don't die and you contribute to the battle nobody will care. If you play turtle GL like me (guard set all the way) chances are you'll be blocking attacks and surviving most of the time anyway, albeit being a little slow. GL is a rarity online too, some people you meet online might even find you a novelty.
Note I said non-guild quest above, I never went beyond the G quests and GQ are a different story altogether where people value fast kills the most, so GL might not fare as well there. I believe on the higher levels the monsters attacks all start doing chip damage even with Guard +2 behind the shield too.

Smoke bombs highly limit a monster's vision and mean it'll just blindly walk around an area slowly until you walk within breathing distance of it. You can use a smoke bomb as you enter an area then just lure one monster away from the unaware one and kill the alert monster first.
If both monsters see you then just throw a dung bomb instead. The monster that has been dung bombed will leave the area after around a minute.
Also smoke bombs run out after 40 seconds so you have to time it well (they're also a bit hard to see the game with since LMAO SMOKE so be careful)

I played it, got to max level, and did epic hunts.
Its pretty fantastic, its back to basics, a lot less flashy but very fun. I played from the USA and the lag was almost non-existent EXCEPT if the servers had like lag for everyone, then you got it horribly.
The grind isnt bad, the limit on levels per day till 30 isnt a big deal, nor are hunting tickets(only getting epic hunting tickets to PERMANENTLY unlock that specific epic hunt is a big grind)
It takes an absolute minimum of 2 weeks to hit 30 but its seriously only a 1-2 hours a day and it carries over the next day a few times if you dont play so you dont have to play every day for 2 weeks.
The only bad part is like level 25-30 because its all the sames hunts you have been doing honestly, and only a few really good new ones done once as a cock tease before you have to grind for them.
Its good.
Not even sure if it has an english patch though, so good luck, it sure didnt when I had one.

Bowguns are much more complex than bows, easily. But once you figure out how they work, you've figured out both two types. LBG is probably more knowledge dependent though when it comes to deciding what's best to kill the monster with, with HBG you can just look at the monster you're up against and determine if you need pierce or normal shot.
