Take a game that has a sprint meter and make that sprint meter unlimited.

Why not just make the sprint speed the default run speed and remove the sprint mechanic altogether?

Some games have moves that are sprint-sensitive, like a sprint attack or a long jump maybe. You don't want to break too many games now.

Then the player could just run past every enemy in the game. It's fun for speedrunners, but the majority of players like actually playing the game, not making a beeline for the exit without touching the combat.
