Why didn't the Human Systems Alliance use more biotics?

It's stated that humans and the asari are biotic powerhouses, since biotic individuals occur much more frequently in those two species, unlike the Salarians, Turians, Batarians, and Quarians, where biotics are only born into them very rarely.

And biotics are essentially just psychics: from what has been demonstrated, they can stop projectiles, and send enemies flying with their minds, and create mini-"black holes", and bring down buildings with their thoughts, and levitate and phase through matter.

So why is anyone still bothering with guns when you have biotics? Why weren't they used more extensively during the Reaper Invasion? I know that game was a mess, but still, why bother fighting with guns when a single biotic can relatively easily crush all the enemy troops with a single thought?
>>
Biotics in humans was still incredibly new, not to mention that in order for biotics to even be useful in anyone that isn't asari, you need implants.
>>
biotics can't pass thru shields.
or are your playing casual "just the story, im a fairy" mode where most enemies lack shields?
>>
Biotics are rare, and powerful biotics were even more rare

And more powerful biotics were taxing on the person and required either top of the line implants or implants that had serious side effects on the user
>>
>>342074376
You only get biotics through being near Ezzo explosions ie: reactor meltdown or engine explosion
60/40 you get cancer and die, otherwise if you're not disabled the flakes of engine compound bind to your pores and skin and alter gravity due to your own bio-electricity charging the element instead of a controlled engine.
So super lethal accident and incredibly difficult to master let alone use in any practical effect.

>HURR DURR WHY NO MORE PSYICS??!
>>
>>342074376
Biotics need more rations than regular soldiers and need surgery and additional training to use it. If every soldier had biotic powers it would be ridiculously espensive.
They can also be unstable since they have tumors in their brain and their brain surgery can go wrong or their amps can malfunction.
And finally it is complete random chance whether the unborn child exposed to element zero dies from cancer or grows mostly benign tumors that allow for biotic abilities. Biotic powers are not something that can be gained on purpose or given to someone. For humans its a crapshoot.

Biotics can easily pass through shields.

In the first Mass Effect, biotics could throw people around like rag-dolls even if they had their shields on, causing direct health damage while bypassing the shield; this was nerfed in the next installment, such that in order for biotics to affect an enemy, their shields had to be taken down.

Lorewise, however, biotics disregard shields.

A species only needs exposure to Eezo once in order for biotics to exist. The asari are all biotics, lending credence to the idea that once an initial exposure occurs, biotic individuals can pass on the biotic capabilities to offspring, such that the offspring will inherit trace amounts of Eezo and develop abilities. Humans are also stated to have a high number of biotics, unlike other species.

They could in the 1st game.
And it was great.

>to master let alone use in any practical effect.

Kaidan snapped some turian's neck with willpower alone before even getting implants.
>>
>>342076072
Asari all have innate biotic abilities but that is most likely part of their ability to reproduce and mind meld with other species. They evolved special abilities naturally.
All human biotics to my knowledge are accidents due to eezo exposure.

He probably pushed him and he snapped his neck on a stool or something
>>
>>342076207
That was a one-off thing though, he wasn't in control and couldn't repeat it until he had implants and another decade of training+experience. Not him by the way.
>>
>>342076375
It's highly doubtful that all human biotics are the result of accidents, since from what can be inferred game-wise, there is a (relatively) high number of extant human biotics, and we even see Jack as a teacher at an academy for biotics, all of whom are young children.

Now, consider this: by the time of the games, it has been about a century since the first "accidents" that rained down Eezo and caused the first biotics. This alone makes it highly possible that - like mercury in fish - biotics pass on a certain (trace) amount of Eezo on to their offspring, allowing them to develop those Eezo- nodes that allow them to perform their psychic feats.

Eezo is naturally occurring on Thessia, the Asari's home planet. Hence all Asari have been exposed to the stuff and end up with some measure of biotic ability.

>>342076683
He kicked him full force with biotics and snapped his neck.
He didn't just "push him"

This
Im pretty sure it was stated that is a a fit of rage biotic burst that sent the dude flying

No.
In the books, Kaidan becomes enraged at a turian instructor and snaps his neck just by thinking about it.

>>342076906
Not all asari come from Thessia though, so how is it that ALL asari have biotic powers?

It was rare to uncommon for humans to be biotics, much less ones that could be useful on the battlefield: The girl who was able to make a singularity was an incredibly rare one-off. Even forcing humans to be exposed to Ezzo doesn't guarantee you would have a useful biotic.

For a fun segue read, pic related.

Biotic potential isn't some kind of latent ability or genetic trait; it's a random mutation caused by in-utero exposure to dust-form Element Zero. 9 times out of 10, that exposure simply causes fatal tumor growth in the fetus; it's only about 10% of cases that have the Eezo coalesce into biotic nodules. And that's ignoring the fact that any incident capable of exposing a pregnant woman to dust-form Eezo is likely to simply kill her.

The reason the asari have such a high occurrence of biotics in their population is because their homeworld was naturally rich in Eezo. Natural selection favored those individuals who were able to survive and thrive in the face of near-constant exposure to Eezo dust, and that process undoubtedly took several million years. For every other species, biotic potential only occurs during freak accidents- which, again, are far more likely to kill the mother/fetus than they are to grant superpowers.

On top of all that, actually becoming proficient in biotic usage is a bitch and a half. It takes years of intense training, typically starting in early adolescence, to hone your mental thought processes enough to direct the Eezo nodes in your body to do anything noteworthy- and it can take even longer than that to learn how to direct that energy in multiple different offensive manners. In addition, you also need expensive and undoubtedly painful surgeries to have a control unit implanted in your body so that you can amplify the biotic field you generate to be capable of doing more than just tickling somebody. Plus, making any kind of biotic attack requires a great deal of mental focus and concentration. Trying to do that shit in a combat zone would be like trying to play two different games of chess at once, and also getting tazed in the gut if you take too long to move or make an illegal move.

But it is stated that ALL asari are biotic, despite not all of them coming from Thessia. Hence, biotic ability must be something that is passed on: perhaps Eezo is transferred in trace amounts to offspring, some of whom will die, and some of whom will develop said Eezo nodes.

>Plus, making any kind of biotic attack requires a great deal of mental focus and concentration.
Also requires a lot of calories. It was covered in the game, but I think they said a biotic uses an extra 1500 calories per day or something.

>Tfw can't use biotics to lose weight.

is it possible to create hitler in the character creator? i want to go full renegade for fun. was always half and half in the last 2 trilogy playthroughs.

>Natural selection produces Asari on Thessia that have biotic capability over millions of years
>This obviously becomes a part of their natural physiology. Of course their children would retain this.
>Asari eventually get the ability to do offworld expansion. They also become males when too far from Thessia for whatever reason.

The human exposure to e-zero also caused a shitton of birth defects and deaths. Only a few people got beneficial effects.
>>
>>342074376

Because human biotics are still in their infancy and, at this point in the series, cause massive side effects. Faggot Spic dude doesn't sleep at night and has perpetual migranes.

I remember that if the player picks biotic class, Kaidan will mention that Shepard is much more powerful than him.

Kaidan himself states that he has occasional migraines: hardly 'perpetual', faggot.
