The story/characters ain't the best, but what made me love it was the setting and the battle system. You can get it for decently cheap now, like 20$, so I'd say it's worth giving it a shot. I never got fatigued with this game the way I always get fatigued with Persona.

In Mass Effect 2 there is a miscellaneous mission that makes you have to land on a derelict ship on some planet fuck knows where to retrieve a data file. It's a completely peaceful atmosphere right up until the entire skeleton ship you're on shifts and makes this loud mortifying noise. There are no enemies in the entire mission just that one event.
