What are you getting? Anything you'd recommend?

Don't just post a wish list, talk to other people here.

It's fine anon. It's not as entertaining as before, but really saves you a bunch of time. Not required to check in the store multiple times per day... is the responsible adult thing to do
>>
>>342013842
Just some smaller games like Momodora, outside of those, hopefully Arcana Heart, and Battle Fantasia go on a good sale.

Indie games that I'd heavily recommend:

Crypt of the Necrodancer
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Sunless Sea
Shadowrun: Dragonfall
Deadbolt
Crimzon Clover
Downwell
Assault Android Cactus
Grim Dawn
Brigador
Invisible Inc.

Hoping for DD, Factorio, Stardew Valley or Stellaris.
Maybe Total Warhams though I don't think that will get any relevant % this time.

When they added refunds. You just know that a bunch of retards would have bought the game at a low discount, then refunded it when it goes on sale and bought it again. They didn't want to deal with that.

Dawnguard dlc so I can install some mods that require it
Guilty Gear Xrd for Elphelt

Sakura Dungeon and Squad. Don't know anything that would want to get other than those two. It, of course, might change once the actual sale will start. But so far that is all I want to get.
Oh, and maybe The Division, if it 5USD or less.
>>
>>342014940
Now you can join the ranks of us adults and instead of having no money to buy games you will have no time to play them.
>>

Can't recommend really. It's an okay game.

Think I'll get Beyond Earth since it's certain now that it won't be getting any more DLC content.
>>
have enough games to play, not really need anything. maybe Tales of Zestiria, Undertale or Recettear
>>
its very depressing that i've ran out of games i'd want to buy. My wishlist is for games i might pay 3-5$ for just to try it out but there is nothing i want anymore. I'm so empty inside
>>
>>342015276
>you will have no time to play them
Or you'll have time to play them, but the sheer amount of strength it takes to get through an average day at work leaves you so drained that not even videogames can distract you from the fact that you'll have to suffer through the same shit on the next day.
>>
I'll be getting Max Payne 1 and 2, Tron 2.0, Dead Space and possibly Distance.

I recommend getting Styx Master of Shadows. Breddy gud stealth game.

>>342013989

Yeah, I hope for a discount on DOOM too, though I'm not holding my breath.

>>342014870

Bruh, the Witcher games are on sale on GOG right now.

Ori and the blind forest. I want to get Subnautica too, but apparently it doesn't run well with intel HD 4000. :/

No.

There's just barely anything to do. I liked the dungeons, but they are horribly inefficient when you compare them to just buying shit and then reselling it actually they are often not even sufficient for hitting your monthly goals

And if you just resell stuff it's nothing but restocking your store, letting costumer in, gauging how much they'd might be willing to pay and then repeating it till you win the game.

Take a look at Dishonored if you haven't played it, and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (GOG? only).

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory might scratch an itch as well.

Stereotypical villain games is difficult. You might like KeeperRL, it's a mashup between Dwarf Fortress with graphics and Dungeon Keeper. Looks promising so far.

Devil Daggers if you're in the mood for a coffee break shooter that might keep you addicted for a few days.

Dungeon of the Endless for Indie strategy, it's really fun.

My PC went bust 6 months ago and all I have is a 2007 Toshiba; any recommendations on indie games or low-tech classics? I'm doing a re-run/first run of a bunch of old school FPS games right now and just finished Quake, Quake II, and all of their mission packs.

I like most any genre though and honestly I'm getting worn down by all the FPS games I have.

For recommendations from me I'd recommend:
>Any 3D realms shooter (BLOOD is great but extremely difficult to get running properly)
>Titanquest (probably the best Diablo clone I've played)
>AoE II
>Hotline Miami
>Mount and Blade:Warband

Those are the games I'm mostly been playing as of late anyway.

Adding to the indie list:

Underrail (Fallout 2 meets Metro)
Battle Brothers (medieval mercenary XCOM)
Sanctuary RPG: Black Edition (for that casual pokemon-like grind and leveling up)
Vagante (2d Zelda roguelite, it's really neat, especially in coop)
Offworld Trading Company (surprisingly in-depth and streamlined competetive strategy)

Bored but can't find the will to play any game. Hoping that the steam sale comes so i can get like some kind of rpg or mmo to occupy my time.
Recently played some Hearthstone, but that gets boring after a couple games, and there aren't any decks I want to try.
Played HEX, but you can't buy packs with the gold you earn, only use the AH.
Downloaded D3, then uninstalled it because weapons are meaningless.
Download POE and uninstall it because the camera angle and graphics look like shit.

Played Ember Online (mud), but theres a wipe coming so I don't want to invest anymore time.

Any good free to play games on steam or something different to try? I just can't get into any games anymore it seems.

You might like AvP Classic. I dont know if its on Steam but its on GOG and probably on sale now.

If you can get them running, I'd recommend the initial Dawn of War games (1, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, Soulstorm). If you get them, check out the AI fix for DC and Soulstorm, to make the battle AI stop being retarded.

Homeworld 1 and 2. Both Steam and GOG have the remastered version, but I have the GOG and it gives you the originals.

Having finished it a couple of weeks ago, after trying to play it twice, I understand you both completely. You need a fucking starting guide for that game.

The quality of the missions varied wildly. The first 4 or so were great for me, in a clunky "its almost like a normal game" way but then you get to that fucking mission on Mars, I think it is, with demons and Federation soldiers all over the place that attack you while you're hacking. Got tedious real quick.

Doesnt help that games got bugs. I got to the second last mission where bug prevented me from getting new ammo from the armory. Was tempted to quit there but a restart fixed it.

Yeah, the EYE fanbase on /v/ can get a bit defensive. I like the game but I can also recognize its by no means perfect.

Deathwing is looking much better, and this time the story and dialouge might actually make some semblance of sense, since they're bringing someone else, a reasonably well know (within the 40k fanbase) author, to write it. Though it seems we're gonna get our legs broken again.
>>
>>342019619
ive been playing a bit for the past couple days, surprisingly haven't run into any cheaters
as for active playerbase, the peer selection system is god awful. you boot it up, takes forever to get into the game, and every time it puts you into a server with 2-3 other people at most, so you need to select the option to go into another server, wait for it to randomly pick another game, then get into a world with around 20 or so people
still runs like ass on older cards

as for "is it worth it"? it aint that great honestly, if you arent fucking around with friends

DoW does run on my computer and I played the campaign of the first game but I haven't given the expansions a go just yet but I might try them out.

>>
>>342020681
Mount and Blade:Warband is great for that. Its historic fiction so there is no magic or anything like that (unless you find some mods) but its a great medieval sandbox to play in if you like making your own fun. Its hard to get started though, it really takes a good 8-10 hours of play to understand what the hell is going on and why the game is interesting. But once you're in you're in and it will keep you in for a long ass time (I have 300+ hours played and that doesn't count mods).

Other than that Dragon's Dogma is great.

Either you do it with GOG Galaxy (gogs new thingy, mainly there for multiplayer and little else, from what I've heard) or you download it through your browser. Depending on the size, there will be several files to download. You can do an integrity check before you install it, just in case.

GOG has a refund system, though from what I've seen its not automated or limited to two hours (GOGs big selling point, no DRM, means they cant monitor your playtime). You have to actually contact the customer service and have a legit reason for wanting a refund (I've never tried but I dont think "it isnt fun" counts as a legit one). If they cant fix it, you get your money back. Most games there will work fine but every now and then you'll run across a game thats being sold there yet wont work. This happened with me and Satellite Reign. Game would load a bit and then suddenly crash, until I deleted one specific file. I heard one of the Dungeon Master games also had severe problems when it was first launched over there.
>>
>>342014439
Honestly it was kind of retarded, when refunds came in I bought all my games and refunded each one one at a time for the cheaper price. 6 emails later i'm sure i wasn't the only one. They put a stop to it because of peopel like me, i'm sure.

I don't have time to sit there and fuck around with sales fucking windows i have a full time job damnit.

well, I don't have much money, so I'm hoping that Dragonball Xenoverse will be discounted.

Suggestions:
Deadbolt
Gunpoint
Shovel Knight
Civ V if you want to have fun with friends before Civ VI comes out

I want to finally scratch my RPG itch. Give me some suggestions where there are varied classes, lots of skills that actually affect gameplay, or anything of the like. Was thinking Oblivion or Morrowind, but not sure.
>>
>>342021701
Highly recommended: Battle Brothers
Very lighthearted, but great for quickish playthroughs: Renowned Explorers: International Society
Fantasy 4x tactical army battle simulator: Age of Wonders 3
RPG: Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Legend of Grimrock
Skyshine's Bedlam supposedly has received an update that improved the core gameplay
Xenonauts is a true and modern remake of the older XCOM titles. It's very very good.
>>
i want Waifu of the Waifu Raider, Doom and Dirt Rally
not really expecting any of them to be on a sale worth the attention
>>
>>342022272
Morrowind will either scratch that itch or give you two itches, the games combat mechanics can be frustrating if you don't know the relationship between your stats and your abilities. Otherwise I'd say it's the only RPG worth playing, made me feel like I was in a world like Dune but fantasy

>Oblivion or Morrowind

Both have their merits but I'd say go with Morrowind. Setting is way more interesting and in my humble opinion the crude models in Morrowind funnily enough hold up better than the ones in Oblivion.

You start as a single guy in a m world and the goal of the game is build up a army to eventually take over every faction with your own. Its open-ended though, so if you wanted you could join a faction and help their king takeover, or just try and get rich by trading butter between major cities. I don't know much about the multiplayer.

Singleplayer is great, all about building an army and taking over the continent. You can choose to be political or be full on conqueror, it's tough starting off because you have no inventory and low stats. Horseback + archery OP.

Also, there are TONS of mods, everything from changing the setting to be like LotR, Game of Thrones, Zelda, feudal Japan, etc. to gameplay enhancements to gore and stuff. I'd recommend playing it at least once.

Grey Goo (No unit abilities, but an incredible SP campaign and very intuitive controls. It's good. Not great, but definitely good. Faction variety is a bit meh, but it's okay.
8-bit Armies for casual games.
Offworld Trading Company for fucking competitive and fast-paced multiplayer, with daily games, scores, match making, ladders. Seriously, it's great. Doesn't last you for months, but a couple of weeks at least.

>community votes

This was taken away because some devs thought they were losing sales because their games didn't win community votes and forcing the community to choose was unfair to them.

>flash sales

same as above but now devs blamed that most people wouldn't buy their games due to the fact that they were waiting for it to be flash sale

>fun events

events that required you to play certain games backfired because you would have instances of russians and credit card scammers (read: russians) buying games to get whatever the prize was. that's why we get free stuff like the clicker game instead of the coal or summer camp prize wall thing.

>same shit on sale

I don't know if you're paying attention but if you're not looking at indie shit, not much comes out between the few months between the spring, summer, and winter sale. Really old stuff gets cheaper and slightly new stuff might drop in price.

Been there, done that. Consider this: There is always going to be a job out there that most people stupidly look down upon, but is necessary for someone to do.
Waiter. Hairdresser. Clerk. Retail salesman. Whatever. Keep applying, it's just a matter of being a nice person and the right timing. The latter you can't influence, the former is.
If you don't see a point in doing all of that, think about some future shit that excites you. Or do some simple stuff that makes you happy. Go out, buy some nicer food that you don't normally buy, cook yourself something neat. If you don't know how, look up a recipe, plan that whole shit out. It's a fun activity, distracting, satisfying and rewarding. Plus it's something interesting to talk about.

I regret buying this and wouldn't suggest it to anyone for less than 50% off. It's essentially a proof of concept demo that the developers rushed out of early access for a quick cash grab and then abandoned. The minuscule amount of content that is there is ok. There is no level design and in an attempt to increase difficulty they just spawn a trillion things on screen, and not in an elegant SHMUP way but a "we just shoved shit on the screen" way. this is especially true when you loop, which was handled about as poor as it could have been handled.

That gunplay though.
If we could just get Gungeon with the gunplay and sounddesign of NT I'd be so fucking happy.

Instead Gungeon's guns are fucking ridiculous and just not fun to use, and NT is locked at 30 fps, riddled with bugs and abandoned.

Everyone should pick up Rabi-Ribi. I'm glad I let /v/ talk me into it it, definitely GotY and probably in my top 15 games of all time.

I haven't been truly excited about a Steam sale in a while, because I already bought everything in the must-have list of games that get great discounts every year, and because all the fun stuff of past Steam sales has been replaced by "collect these cards" (and even the method of collecting them gets dumber every time).

But I have $70 in Steam gift cards that I haven't redeemed and anther $15 in Steam credit from the last $20 gift card which I never used, so I'll have to think of something to buy. More specifically, I'll have to think of about $85 worth of stuff to buy, eventually. It's going to be hard, though, because I've conditioned myself not to buy any game over $5, not for lack of money but because there's really no reason to spend more when I've already been acquiring games faster than I can play them despite hardly spending anything.

I guess I'd still be excited for Steam sales if I only cared about the most recent games, and if I could actually get excited about some shit from six months ago being 10% off. But I'm more interested in indie games than another Generic First-Person Shooter or another Generic Third-Person Open World Mess, and more importantly, I typically look only at games which are at least 75% off, and I already have most of the good games in that category.

I have been meaning to pick up Max Payne 3, so I'll probably get that, if it goes down to $4.99. That seems to be the normal discount during major sales. I saw it for $3.99 once and I don't know why I didn't buy it then.

There's a puzzle/DK hybrid called Tomb of Tyrants. You match differently colored blocks to get resources you build floors with, and those can be minion-producing rooms, trap rooms or providing other utilities. While doing this your dungeon gets assaulted continuously by heroes, so you also have to manage what minions are fighting where and switch out those who are either dying or are better at fighting another hero type elsewhere.

It's really fucking stressful and I keep forgetting about the fighting until the heroes have gotten all the way to the bottom and 1HKO my weak-ass tyrant.

>>342039528
Sure. So, in this game are asteroids. They are basically boring resource sources. You can build mining ships. They fly to the asteroid, mine it, collect the ore, ferry it back to your homeworld.
Pretty straight forward, pretty boring even in my opinion. Now, if the asteroid is too far away it's pretty much a waste of time and not worth it. What you can do, though, is build Tractor ships. They can tractor beam asteroids and drag them around, or into the orbit of your home planet. Suddenly, profit.

Now, this game allows you to really design your ships however the fuck you want. And scale them. Upwards. Immensely.
What happens if you tractor beam a planet with a huge ship?

There are also fling beacons that are one form of FTL, they can fling everything in their system to somewhere within range. Now, if you build two fling beacons, fling one into an enemy system, and use that one to fling the enemy's planets around, you get something really fucking unique:

Actual crazy and unique scifi. I'm loving it, at least.

I like the game, and spent some time, but it does have a lot of issues. There's barely any replay value, if you explore enough of the world and if you fail, you're going to see a lot of the same shit again. It getting marketed as if it is about exploring is very far fetched. As soon as you get one of the bigger ships and you know how to make cash without risks, the game becomes very boring. While there are barely any risks anymore, there are a few events and things you can barely foresee and end a run you put a shit ton of hours into, without you being able to do much about it. There are bugs. The ship movement is too easy to pull off and should have more intricate mechanics. Storms are only a nuisance. The writing is good, but it's more like a short story collection and there's not a big main story or something like that. I'm not saying the game is bad, but it could be a lot better.

I hear that Saints Row IV is better then Gat out of Hell, but the whole franchise is usually super cheap during sales, so go for it.
The Talos Principle is a really fun puzzle game and solving shit as a jewish robot was pretty entertaining for me, although I know some people who got bored of it.

I'll probably get Skyrim. But isn't a remastered version or something supposed to come out soon?

Cry of Fear's Survival Mode, Killing Floor, Payday the Heist. Genre I'd say is Horror, Co-op, Survival, FPS, doesn't have to be Co-op but has to be fun and gritty.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations, I'll be sure to check em out.
>>
>>342045207
I dislike the children that you usually have to play with or against in these games. It doesn't matter which one, it's nearly seasonal. Early Access Survival game releases, gets youtube and twitch attention, the same group of people buys into it, it never gets finished or released.

DayZ, Rust, Long Dark, Culling, Dead by Daylight, H1Z1, ARK, whatever.
Almost all the same shit, in my opinion.
>>
>>342045573
Unless you care for getting Skyrim remastered, just buy the vanilla Skyrim and pirate the DLC (you still even get DLC achievements.)

Mount and Blade is in my Top 3 games of all time

Valkyria Chronicles and Dragons's Dogma are also solid choices.
>>
>>342045573
dude tomb raider and bam ham go on sale for 5 bucks all the time on newegg, amazon, etc. skyrim legendary goes on sale frequently too but the discount tends to hit the wall at 66% or so, skip those and get them elsewhere.

>>
>>342047436
I haven't played Tales of Zestiria, but Way of the Samurai 4 is really good if you can get into it. The first playthrough feels really bad just because you've got shit swords, no styles, and nothing is open to you, but every playthrough is like a continuation of your last one and more options get unlocked.
>>
>>342044862
All I can think of is any of the elder scrolls games, but I don't about any game that revolves around you being an orc. Imagine a god of war style game where you play as Orgrim Doomhammer or Grom Hellscream and you smash your way through your enemies.
>>
>>342047620
Thanks anon, Dishonored is the only one of those I've played and I loved it. Looking at the games now
>>
If FF9 is a good price, I might go after it.

Wouldn't mind snagging REmake and finally try to beat it after all these years, since it fucked me up badly when I was younger due to the zombies and unyielding difficulty

Other than those, not really interested in too much by this point. Sales happen, I throw wallet at the screen, and then I usually never even play more than an hour per game. Having too much fun lately with Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS to really invest heavily in a more time intensive game.

>>342023063
Did they confirm transfers at E3 or something? Haven't been keeping up with the new game at all.
>>
Looking at getting Stranger of Sword City if it has a decent drop, even though it's pretty new. I'm in love with the art work I've seen.

If I liked old school wizardry games on my snes I should like this right? Haven't played a dungeon crawler in close to two decades.
