How come military men are the choice in most of the times of a protagonist? Can you identify with them? Or is it a poor excuse for the fighting part of the game that follows due to their experience?
I personally empathized with the plain characters of Silent Hill 1 to 4.

In a game where the protagonist operates various firearms and has to use hand-to-hand combat, it makes sense to have him be a soldier due to them actually receiving training in all that.
My favorite subversion to that is Silent Hill: Homecoming.
