Is that resolution a good idea?
No it is not
Roundabouts are for casuals. Look up some real interchanges
Whichever destinations are the most busy is going to create chokepoints on each offramp.
Make the traffic circle one way and the outer ring the other.

There's just something about general knowledge of right of way in this country that makes this shit scary. Like if you don't have street lights telling you exactly what to do, people just do what every the fuck they want. That and people always act like they are the only ones on the road with somewhere to be. We have a slightly strange intersection near where I work. On the way home I take a right in it and I have a lane all to myself to turn onto, and people that turned left onto that same street have their own lane, right? Well, about one or two times a week I have people blaring their horn at me because they are in their lane and I'm in mine, like I fucking cut them off while staying in my own lane. If shit ain't perfectly spelt out for people they flip their shit.

same here. With time I got a big city, problem is the traffic. km's of traffic jam...ambulance and the garbage collection cant reach the households because they are stuck in for years in the jam.

>>342005248
Not really a roundabout. Would have same problems as cluttering assloads of intersections together. Inner lane is stupid because it is useless. If it's made one way only it will be congested as fuck and the traffic around it will break. Dumb idea, considering there is something similar and far mess expensive in terms of building and maintenance below it.
Also the intersection entrance is uphill so faggots who cant into himl-starts would cause accidents and again more congestion.
Stupid as fuck idea.

There's two lanes on the streets you are exiting onto.
I don't think this is something peculiar to US roads, there are lots of non-roundabout intersections with multiple turn lanes where you are supposed to stay in your lane as you complete the turn.
What should be done is the second lane on the exiting street should be closed off by the median, and then open back up further along, so that it is absolutely clear that only the outermost lane is for exiting the roundabout.

Navigating it isn't too bad. Just keep an eye on the signs. The problem is that every driver in albuquerque would rather die then actually make room from someone wanting to get to an outside lane. That intersection is bumper-to-bumper-at-70 the entire way. You basically have to half way force someone off the road to get into the lane you want. It's such a fucking nightmare.

This guide helped me a lot. Essentially, your road system should have several tiers with each tier only crossing the neighboring ones.
And yes, don't just grid everything. Your goal is chopping the traffic apart and directing its flow, not making everything connected.

Honestly, it's kinda ingenious given the space constraints. Problem is that instead of all exiting traffic moving to the right side like in most interchanges, you have the two exiting directions moving to opposite sides and the thru traffic dealing with the cris-crossing flow. It's a mess and always gets backed up.
>>342019206
The Veehive isn't without its issues, see pic. I have no idea what's causing it nor any clue how to fix it. Waiting sure as hell doesn't correct that.
I built the Veehive by exploiting the fact that the smallest roads never have traffic lights in intersections. This allows me to have flowing traffic even when it's really heavy, there are after all, always some cars that are moving because they never wait for lights. The small roads of course have low speed limits, but that's where the highways come in. The city has more intersections than a rectangular grid, but in CS intersections themselves aren't the devil. It's the traffic lights that cause gridlocks and congested roads. Of course proper planning (while also taking into consideration game mechanics) can also mitigate the problems intersections/traffic lights cause.
Really you just need to study how the game works. Or look up some guide that has done the studying for you.
I like dumping sewage into a lake.
Though this one started to overflow and flood the city, so I built a canal system.
Interestingly enough, after a while of going through the canal, the water purifies itself, so you can just have pumps at the output.
This might just be because I'm using the treatment plants which don't pollute as much though. I'm not too sure.
I like to play with Unlimited cash because I just like building pretty cities. Anyone else like this?

You can't make Magnasanti in Cities:Skylines because the game has a building limit. You'll hit it way before filling a map
Someone did however do a SimCity version of Magnasanti. It was just a single road zig-zagging through the lot and filled with apartments and one of each service at the exit. Not only was it viable but also stupidly effective because you didn't have to worry about the shitty pathfinding clogging the roads
So what are the chances the next simcity is actually good? So many of the core mechanics in simcity, like the whole region system (buying and selling), funneling resources into projects, and aesthetics are godly. It just doesn't have any of the actual openness cities skylines brings (which itself borrows from older SC games).

This would be terrible.
People would have to stop to let traffic going the other way leave.
No traffic lights for the exits? It will get gridlocked within minutes and you'll have huge numbers of accidents when it is 'flowing'
Traffic lights at the exit? It would get gridlocked as queues build up and people inevitably block exits. Plus going around that roundabout you'd potentially catch 4 long duration red lights (twice as long as a typical roundabout because it also needs to stop to allow leaving traffic).
It's fundamentally flawed as roundabouts need to only be a single direction to be efficient.

The rules for which lane to be in (UK road layout) :
rule 1: road markings take priority over anything. If a lane only shows left turn, you don't go in it for straight on
rule 2: If you pass more than 1 exit in the outer lane, you were in the wrong lane.
rule 3: even if you only pass one exit, if the exit is off to the right, be in the right hand lane.
rule 4: if the road is single lane leading up to the roundabout, there are no direction arrows and rule 2 applies, you MUST be in the left hand lane for straight on; there will only be a single lane on the exit so if you try to use the right lane you'll cut someone up (although that doesn't stop wankers in sports cars who try to use the roundabout to overtake and almost crash into you).

To give you a sense of how non-threatening the magic roundabout is, people won't bat an eye when you mention you have to go via greenstead (where the roundabout is) but people make awkward intake of breath noises when you say you want to through cowdray avenue any time except the middle of the night.
Fuck this cramped town.

Eyy, fellow Worcester county anon. Thank god I used public transit in the city.

AND NOBODY WILL NEVER KNOW!!!
>>342006817
A roundabout is considered to have graduated hogwarts when it is more than four roundabouts in conjunction. There's actually only two in the UK: Swindon (which is huge, has a central turnstyle one as well, and is mostly just marked lines on pavement, its fucking terrifying the first time and dead simple the rest) and Colchester (which is incredibly small and cramped, has more clearly marked islands and no central roundabout. The downside is that absolutely nobody in Essex can FUCKING DRIVE)
I don't know of any others, there's plenty of what I'd call "Four big roundabouts" where you cycle between a square of four seperate roundabouts with various exists. Top-down it'd look a bit like a castle with four spires. They're not considered magic.

Cities: Skylines. It's great and newbie-friendly but the core is traffic management so keep that in mind.

It is pretty fuckin comfy. Just get some of the must-have mods to eliminate the Twitter-clone bullshit, automatically bulldoze buildings, etc.
Also don't mind any spergs trying to tell you this game has some left-wing liberal agenda shit, as a reason why you shouldn't play.

It's entirely based on the fact that coal power is one of the least efficient forms of power in the game, as opposed to the most efficient as in real life.
Some people find that objectionable.
>>342030979
Some /pol/ bullshit about them making nuclear power weak and green power strong (not true), and like, socialist ordnances or some shit, idk. It's a Swedish game.

The one tip you'll ever need in city building games is MAKE THINGS SPACED OUT, do NOT jam yourself in a corner of the map and extend in all directions, make districts far away from each other with main roads connecting them.
>>342031638
I lived there in Helsinki for 3 years when I was growing up. It is in fact a pretty comfy place. Scandinavia has an interesting feel to it, and there's lots of cool scenery

These roadways are small time. You want to know true pain? Try driving around Pittsburgh with no gps. Even with gps the construction in 10 different places every day will fuck you in the ass.

>god tier left
As someone else said, this design harms through-traffic on the upper level. This is fine if one of the other roads is minor, but for any major-major intersection this is bad.
>god tier center
Did the guy who designed this take into account you have 4 overlapping roads in the center, and therefore need 3 bridges with minimum clearance? That's around a 60ft difference between the bottom road and the top road.
>god tier right
I hope bridges are cheap where you live.
>shit tier left
Great for very limited space, most of the "upgraded" intersections where I live switch the classic light for this as it requires the least amount of eminent domain.
>other shit tier
These might as well be mid tier, they all get the job done, though clover-leaf creates more dead space than the others.

I grew up in Essex (Southend, of all places), and last year moved to Berkshire, have since moved back. You think Essex is bad for drivers, try moving to yuppie-land where everywhere is country roads with blind corners, BMW-driving tossers screaming past at 80 every five minutes.

There's literally no interchange between these two major freeways, and it was from when I-30 used to be a toll road. At least they finally decided to build an interchange.

>>342037712
there's nothing wrong with the way it is now, you only think there is because you live there.
here's a protip: people complain about the thing where they live. This is because, once you pass teenage years, nothing actually happens in life. you just complain about shit until you die. it is the same everyhwere you go.
I'm a road nerd and i'm really not sure what you think is wrong with that very modern, compact interchange.
>>342038130
Because they're designed by artists, not engineers.
Can the DLC for this be easily pirated and applied like paradox titles or do I have to go and pirate the entire game along with them?
