I'm really tempted to ask my work for the days off so I can just watch nothing but EVO.
I'm not even paying attention to tournaments anymore, since I can't even play the game.
I already did all the ports stuff, and I can play perfectly fine with a p2p connection, even the system shows 5 bar connection, but the game insists on giving me relay connection 90% of the time.
Been testing with a friend who also did the ports stuff, so my only guess (which I'm know is the right guess) is that Capcom sucks really hard on delivering a properly functioning system.

This. I'm considering buying a PS4 so KOF14 get to be my main fighting game.
But I don't know, I never took FGs seriously, and hoped to get into them with SFV, but the game is unplayable for me right now because of shit netcode and no local scene.
I was gonna go this year, but I bought a gaming pc instead, but now that I think bout it. SF5 will have more characters, tekken 7, injustass 2 and kof will be there next year. Next year is going to be goat. I'm still hype af for this year though

Ibuki lost the slide, which was only useable during combos (unless you're playing braindead idiots who can't block a full-screen slide or something), and the Tsumuji, which "applies pressure" and is easily replicated by normals and other specials.

Pokken has 2 stages to it, one that involves a 3D field where the Pokemon move around freely to try and either zone out the opponent or close in to advance into the second stage, and the second one which is more traditional 2D gameplay but with some twists to it. The addition of the first stage makes it so that the game plays very heavily different from Tekken games, you'd have to be reaching pretty fucking hard to claim that it's the same. Shit, I bet you don't even notice differences between other fighting games if you do.

The whole design philosophy is different than a normal fighter, if you know someone can put on give armour to move gloves that means instead of balancing the base out they can say well get those gloves and you can now fight

Vskill and crush counter are stupid and pointless mechanics, moving a special to that and there already is counter hits, no reason for it to exist
There is no reason for there not to be chip kills, I know casuals love it not being in the game but it creates fake hype with shitty comebacks and stupid situations. Being able to only chip kill with supers is racist against grapplers!

V system: Severely lacking in complexity and technicality. There's really no variation in what it can be used for. V-trigger is used as either a ghetto hit confirm to extend a combo (usually into some ridiculous 60-70% CA finisher that is extremely easy to execute) or to make a bad poke safe. V-skill is a glorified one button special... let's not fool ourselves it being any more than that. V-reversal is a neat idea but it's very limited in what you use it for.
Jab Fighter V: One argument against 4 was the usage of jabs into high damage combos. Now you have a game where wake-up jab is an extremely powerful option, jabs xx special/vtrigger xx CA pretty much occurs every match, and jabs are a more viable anti-air/prevents crossups better than antiair specials.
Characters: The characters are boring. They all play very similar. There's barely any variation in their gameplay. All of them are 'different', but the way Capcom has developed balance has simply resulted in a very homogenized cast who generally are aiming for the same thing: easy to land CA links.
SFV is fun to play but boring as fuck to watch. Everyone plays safe and boring except Infiltration because the counter-hit system is bonkers.
Evo sunday literally gets less hype as the day goes on
Combo variation: There is none. Flat out. Every character plays the same way. Each character has 3-4 BnB combos and that's it. It's extremely repetitive, no player can make their character their own, and they all look the same. Whereas in 4, you could see massive differences between a player's character, ie. Poongko vs Dashio's Seth, Bonchan vs Ryan Hart's Sagat, Daigo vs Ghandi's Ryu.
Gameplay: Overall, it's OK. I mean, it gets monumentally boring far quicker than 4 ever did. It has a decent base but it's not like creating a fighting game base is difficult. But come on, the highest level SF4 was leaps and bounds hyper than what we're currently seeing in SFV. Yea, yea, yea 4 had years to develop, blah blah blah. The truth is, regardless of whether you thought vanilla 4 was crap, the FADC system was already versatile - you could cancel into longer combos, you could cancel normals, you could use it to attack, you could use it to defend, you could use it to escape, and you could use it to build meter. But it also had a risk to it. Pros by the end were punishing unsafe DP FADC's (Ultra), great players were reading telegraphed focus backdashes and getting punished for it, etc. SFV is just... boring. It doesn't have enough mobility for professionals to truly spread their wings. It's limiting. To scrub tier bronze/silver players, it's the shit because it's easy to execute, simple to learn, and it rewards you for it. For highest level players and SPECTATORS, especially, the game doesn't bring any hype.

I'm just trying to stay current man. I also don't really like SF5 but Ken finally plays differently than Ryu and crush counters are just satisfying enough to keep bringing me back. I love SF4 and Third Strike way more but they are essentially dead.
