PC Unstability at Midnight 2.png

Well lately even though my PC runs fine, at midnight, my PC slows to a crawl and any audio thats going on distorts and makes a BZZZZZZZT sound for a few seconds and then resumes normally.

Pic related the processes of my PC.

As you can see with the Disk and Memory windows, they spike up when that issue occurs resulting in te PC going to a crawl with the disorted sound for a few seconds.

How can I fix this? Tried using cleaning and virus scanners and found nothing. What programs can remove that annoyance? I want to play games so I don't run into that bullshit every midnight.
>>
>>341947068
Only specifically at midnight?

>Laptop

Probably why hey
>>
>>341947068
Maybe you ran out of memory? try getting more RAM
>>
>>341947223
Yeah its a laptop but I never ran into problems till recently with that annoying PC going to a crawl for a few seconds.

And yes the problem only specifies at midnight. Any ideas?
>>
>>341947417
No idea. But it's happening for 3 seconds every 24 hours. I think you'll live.

Clean up that task bar and use CommonSense 2016.
>>
>>341947395
Even when RAM nearly peaks, it still runs good with no issues. Again its the midnight bullshit. Whats causing it to do this if theres no problem with RAM even its near cap? Even if RAM usage is low, it still does the damn thing.
>>
Do you have screenshots of your processes when it happens?

Have you run any virus scans?

When did it start and did you chance anything (installs, updates) around that time?
>>
>>341947068
My girlfriends laptop did that too. It was a piece of shit and we deleted system 32 like /v/ said. Had to buy a new computer.
>>
>>341947590
could be overheating / throttling? laptops usually don't have good ventilation. Also i was saying maybe going over the available ram not getting near the cap
>>
>>341947624
>Do you have screenshots of your processes when it happens?

Yeah the OP pic. The disk and Memory windows has that one tall sharp spike which is that problem that causes the PC to go to a crawl for a few seconds.

>Have you run any virus scans?
Yes and found nothing.

>When did it start?
Last week.

>>341947912
>could be overheating / throttling?
Nope, the fan blows it out fast enough. I also have a laptop fan that helps as well. PC has stayed cool.
>>
>>341947068
disable windows update service
>>
My first thought was that the problem only happening at midnight was a definite virus, maybe a file upload or download or something, but I can't think of a virus that would do anything too terribly harmful in three seconds every 24 hours. The real question is, why is 3 seconds in the middle of the night enough to seek help?
>>
Keep it in safemode for a day and see what happens at midnight.

If it happens in safemode it's a hardware issue, if it doesn't happen then it's something you're running.

Happened to my desktop at 1 am for a long time. Turns out it was some scheduled windows shit. check that

Where would I find that

Stop using uTorrent it's full of spyware and shit. Your laptop could be just infested with bitcoin miners which go off at midnight and causes the bandwidth spike on your system.

Just buy a new computer GTX1080 + i7 6700k + 64 gigs of memory + 4 x SSD raid and forget your shitty laptops.
>>
>>341948584
probably an automated system information collection report or some shit.
>>
BitTorrent > μTorrent, seems to be more reliable as far as viruses too.
>>
Just run this in safe mode overnight.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TronScript/comments/4mzamk/tron_v911_20160607_aq_fix_crash_on_mexican_locale/

It'll fix everything.
>>
>>341948701
>Your laptop could be just infested with bitcoin miners

Found nothing of that. Virus scanners would find it but my virus scanner found nothing even though if it was there my scanner would've gotten it already. Malwarebytes BTW is what I use.
>>
>>341948701
>could be just infested with bitcoin miners

what the hell kind of bitcoin miner only runs for three seconds a day?
>>
>>341949334
Virus scanners might not find it. They don't find everything, especially if you don't run them in safemode.

Run shit like TDSSKiller, ADWcleaner, and JRT in safe mode as well as your normal scans.

The Windows Task Scheduler will do random shit at specific time that will slow down your PC (defrag, crash reports, sending the list of your favourite porn sites to Microsoft), try checking the active task from Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Task Scheduler
>>
>>341949791
I am checking the Task Scheduler, and what is it that I am supposed to look at?
>>
>>341951306
Anything scheduled to run everyday at the hour you get issues might be a good start
>>
>>341952419
Hmm looks like its the System Restore(labeled as "SR". Triggers at that time. Already disabled it just to be sure. I usually do the system restore manually every couple weeks or every month.
>>
>>341947068
>any audio thats going on distorts and makes a BZZZZZZZT sound

actually sounds like external radio interference, but its likely to be task scheduler running stuff. open task manager before midnight, sort by process usage and look for any new processes that start up. check your task scheduler library as well for automated tasks that are set to run.
>>
>>341953061
>check your task scheduler library as well for automated tasks that are set to run.

Where do I check the task schedular library and the automated tasks? On Services?
>>
>>341953740
start > type task. click on task scheduler in the results. look through the library for anything suspicious, as well as disabling any extraneous tasks you don't need (flash tends to install bunch updater shit)

you can also go through services to look for anything weird as well also start run > msconfig look at the startup tab for anything suspicious (if on w10 startup was moved to task manager)

if as you say things get weird at midnight monitor task manager for new processes in the minutes leading up to midnight.

>hear CPU noises
>feel something wrong
>open task manager
>everything seems fine
>check disk activity from resource monitor
>svchost.exe is accessing my porn files
>MFW

what's going on? i heard it night be windows prefetch, what it is supposed to do?
>>
>>341953061
This.
If you keep your OS up to date, Microsoft have added a whole bunch of telemetry related tasks without really telling anybody.
Just comb over the tasks and disable/delete anything with words like "Customer Experience" in the name. Just Google anything you're not sure of.
>>
Might as well not make a new thread for this.

So, my gaming PC is kind of getting a bit long in the tooth, and I'm thinking of upgrading it later this summer when the new graphics cards come out. I'm just thinking, do you guys have a good idea if there's something else that will be a serious bottleneck if I just upgrade the graphics card?

My current build is:
- i5 3470 (socket 1155)
- Radeon HD 7870 GHz (main point for upgrade)
- 8GB of DDR3-1600
- 630W power supply

The processor might need updating too.
>>
>>341955791
I disabled the updated that involves telemetry. I'll check the task stuff then to be sure as well.
>>
>>341955263
>what's going on?

probably indexing or shadow copy running. check the services svchost is running.
>>
>>341955963
i have an old i5 750 and can still play most games on max settings, just upgrade the GPU
