It's interesting. I'm playing DOOM on Nightmare and kicking ass, but I never once felt like a total badass who accomplished anything. I don't feel like I'm coming out victorious facing overwhelming odds. I don't feel particularly powerful. I still die in 2-3 hits from even the most weak and pathetic enemy. My weapons are the only thing that really does any damage, and most of them are shit. I don't know, I just don't feel like he's some biblical levels of stupid powerful character. He's just a guy in a suit with some overpowered guns. Take his guns away and what is he?

They could just use the events leading up to his improsionment in the Sarcohpagus, a rampage across hell, a friendly demon who gives you the Praetor suit, a boss battle with the strongest demon ever, then a building gets dropped on your head.
Since Hell is confirmed to be made up of chunks of worlds they've concoured level variety shouldn't be an issue. But weapons might be, what exactly did he use for centuries in hell?

Why is this game piss easy on every difficulty except for Nightmare? I thought UV would be enough for an initial runthrough but I got up to Hell and realized I'd only died to platforming mistakes so far. Already figured out Runes make it too easy so I wasn't using those except for the larger radius pickups.

He's been in Hell for eons slaughtering everyone, he's become a boogie-man figure to them until they finally trapped him in a Sarcohpagus and put the demonic equivilent of a DO NOT OPEN. EVER sign on it, and according to UAC data logs guarded its location with more ferocity than they'd ever seen before.
Sure, he goes down in a few hits, but he doesn't. Ultra-Nightmare is the canon difficulty and Doomguy has been going for longer than demons can count.
I love how "rip and tear" was incorporated into the game's dialogue.
