Do you not know how brand appeal works? Zelda is the longest running action adventure rpg game thingy on the planet. People will buy anything with the Zelda name on it, anything Zelda touches turns to gold because it has such widespread appeal. It's not soley that it is doing something no other game has done, it's doing something no other Zelda game has done. Zelda is so large of an IP, it can recreate things inside its own sphere of influence and if done well, will jettison the series itself forward making it better and more fun than the last Zelda game. I think zelda looks like a good game but I don't see what is all that special about it, especially to get so much praise. I see people shouting about TECHNOLOGY that has been a thing since far cry 2. I think the extended demo did more harm than good as it showed that while their are cool little things to do they are just random little stuff not worked into the mechanics where you'd want to use them. My worry for Zelda is they are going to try and copy the open world format and be left behind
Not that Horizon looks particularly out there either, it seems very much similar to the open world games we have been getting for a while now but two points made it really stand out for me. One was having obsidian and CDproject guys working on the writing, seeing as we now know there are dialogue options and stuff it should be great in that regard. Second is the big monster fights, you have so many options and can take so many parts off it makes the fights look really good. Especially in comparison to the Zelda fights against those robots reach really were just spam the one big weak point.
