I have some ideas. One is that I feel like I was cheated out of my childhood and adolescence, so cute things remind me of that and upset me. Another is that my self-hatred makes me feel like I don't deserve to enjoy things or feel happy about things. Then there's simple nihilism, where I feel that despite whatever cute/nice thing I'm looking at, the true nature of existence is horrible, merciless, and cruel.
