what's the price of each of them?
>>
>>341803840

The RX480 is supposed to be $199 for the 4gb and I think $40 - $50 more for the 8gb.

RX470 is probably around $150

Gtx 1080 is about $700 and up

gtx 1070 is about $500

The rx460 I don't know, but it's probably some cheap shit.

Yes, and assuming it's not shit when it comes out, it will be the best bang for your bucks. And if that poll is any indication of how good is going to sell, it should be a motivation for nvdia to start lowering prices to be competitive so either way we win.

What are the chances I regret buying any of the them?
Nvidia cards suck in DX12 games, I.E on every console port yet to come, and Halo Wars 2, a game I actually do care about.
AMD is same old story, raw power and cherry picked benchmarks will show that is a great card. Reality will be vastly different, performing better or worse than a GTX 970.

Nvidia cards have planned obsolescence too. They could release them every 4 years and always have an architecture change instead of making making them have more memory or be slightly more efficient every year.

At the moment you rarely need more than 4GB

ok here's a little tip
See the two fuckers on the top in my picture? They're reference cards. Those things have dogshit cooling and the fan will make plane noise. DO NOT BUY THOSE. That shit is bad enough to throttle even an Nvidia card.
If you're going to buy a card at launch, make sure that it does not look like the two top fuckers right here. Make sure that you buy something that looks like bottom, with at least two fans that look rad as fuck.

People tend to buy reference cards at launch because reference cards are more available than custom ones, at launch. Sometimes you have custom MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, Sapphire (ect) cards available from launch but you still might buy a reference if you're not looking

>Also, for regular gaming would you guys reccomend the 4GB or 8GB version? I'm not entirely sure what the extra 4GB does for vidya.
Go for 8GB if you're the type to buy the latest game and want to play it at absolute max quality. 2016 games have started a trend where they add extra uneeded graphical options just so you can jack off about buying a $1000 card. You usually don't want those but if that interest you go for the 8GB. You also might want to futureproof because god knows what those retards are going to add in upcoming games.
Otherwise, if you're a real jew, pick the 4GB. Seriously the price difference is low it's safer to go for the 8GB.

If you're going to SLI/Crossfire, its more beneficial to just purchase a more powerful card for the same price.

SLI/Crossfire is buggy and not supported by MANY games. You will only encounter problems.
>>
>>341822248
Yes i agree it's always better to get a single powerful card. This only gives an extra option to poor people down the road. Crossfire on AMD drivers is a nightmare nothing works on release for any games and some still don't work right months later.

Every time i update my drivers i see in the changelog. fixed crossfire issue with this, crossfire issue with etc still fucked.

>Do Sapphire, Gigabyte etc usually have plans to make custom cases for cards as new as this?
Yes, they do. Generally they already are available from launch.
Where to find these you ask? Well, in the same place you buy a GPU. Those aren't rare or anything, usually you have a picture of the GPU you are buying on the website and that is plenty enough to check which is reference / which isn't
>>
>>341821846
It generally varies launch to launch when aftermarket cards are available. Not too long usually.

I have always been really wary about crossfire/SLI. Loudness stacks, scaling isn't even 100%, twice as many parts that can fail, and higher PSU consumption. For CF 480s, I am not even sure it is worth the ~$200 you save against getting a 1080 in the long run.

Laptop drives because that's what I just upgraded from.

144hz 1440p

complete waste. it's the current year, not 2006. just get the 480 by itself.

Hybrid is fine by me considering I only got into pc gaming late 2013. Graphics doesn't really matter but I just want to be able to play without worrying about upgrading.

What's the matter with win 8.1? Been on it and haven't had a single problem.

Yeah, but I just got the 290 (for $197 via Craigslist). I have a 3D tv but I may go with VR in the far future when it gets good.

Guys
Will my 430W power supply be enough to support an RX 480? I hear it's only supposed to use 150W, but I'm sure the numbers on that can inflate a bit under stress.

You shouldn't buy a crossfire because in the future you're going to need it. You should buy it if you need it now, but if you don't need it yet it's better to wait as prices of cards overall are going to lower and better cards are coming out.

Technically speaking, a mother board & PSU can provide together a maximum or 150w to a reference RX 480.
The PCIe port can provide itself a maximum of 75w, and the reference RX 480 has been shown to have only one 6 pin connector for alimentation through PSU, which can provide a maximum of 75w too. The maximum you can feed a reference RX 480 (custom versions might have additionnal connectors for more overclocking) is 150w, so it will never go over 150w.

Not if you have and AMD cpu

Partner companies are also selling the Founder's Edition, dipshit. Non-reference boards with better coolers do exist, they just haven't launched yet (or maybe they have but are sold out everywhere already and I just didn't notice)

Asus sells the FE for $700, and will be selling the Strix version for $600. Gigabyte will sell the FE for $700, and the Windforce for $600. Same with MSI, and Zotac, and EVGA, and Galax, and Gainward, and Colorful, etc.
