I'm doing True Arena for the first time. I used Archer for cheese and abuse, but I got hit by a Susie missile just as the last arrow hit Haltmann. Now I'm stuck Archerless and the roulette gave me Crash while I'm blinking red in health. How fucked am I from this point on?
Galacta Knight in RTDL is the best iteration of Galacta Knight. GK was a fucking joke in this game. GK in RTDL punishes you for floating/fling and actually requires you to block attacks. You actually have to change your playstye and do a proper 1v1 fight.

Pause buffering the roulette is actually pretty simple. You just have to hover as close to it as you can without touching it, mash pause until you find out what the power BEFORE your desired power is, then when you've paused on that power again, nudge yourself towards it and you should get what you want in time. I managed to snag myself a hammer after accidentally losing mine to Haltmann 2.0.

I tried Ninja earlier because I remember how good it was in KSSU, but I kept fucking up with it in this game. For the most part, I already have a pattern going with hammer that lets me get through most fights with ease. The thing that fucks me over the most is Star Dream, and your ability there is pointless anyway.

I think I've gotten better at saving my HP. I just had a run where I went into Star Dream OS with almost a full bar, though no spare healing item. Made it up to the third phase, and I died because I couldn't dodge the legs when they broke off. I'm pretty comfortable with hammer and I'm not patient enough to sit around doing nothing as a stone.

I-frames, man. The dash attack where you spin the hammer horizontally is how I brute force my way through about 90% of the true arena, because you can pass right through bosses and take no damage. It's especially useful for Clanky, Mecha Knight, Ice Dragon, Haltmann, but it's useful for just about every fight.

What's the easiest way to avoidStar Dream Soul's desperation attack at the very end?
I've just gotten around to this game, but, from what I've played so far, this honestly has to be the best Kirby game I've played so far.
The levels are gorgeous, the new abilities are so much fun to play around with, finding the collectibles is a nice challenge, and the HAL actually managed to make great use of the mech gimmick, which is a much higher step up from the Hypernova gimmick.
The game is so wholesome.

Not that I would actually do this, but can this final boss that people seem worried about be cheesed by using Archer or something else that gives an impenetrable defense, and just slowly whittling down its health when it's safe? Again, it's certainly not that that's how I beat True Arena in Triple Deluxe, no, not at all.
What is it about Kirby that makes it seemingly impossible to mess up? No matter how rocky nintendo gets, they always release great kirby games. Is it because it's the purest game series in existence?

Anyone else here feel a bit bad forkilling Star Dream Soul OS? Considering that Haltmann just wanted to see his daughter again and he was engulfed by the machine so his soul was stuck inside of it, in which you then had to kill Star Dream itself. It doesn't help that Star Dream Soul OS' final moments are of Haltmann screaming in a distorted voice.

They're all based on a similar structure, but they get far more effort put into them than any NSMB. I see this as more of a system where they keep what they like from the previous game and simply try to add onto it as far as content and presentation goes. It's a set up I don't mind at all, though I imagine others might find it stale.
Regardless, this isn't entirely a new thing either. DL, Adventure, and DL2 used the same styles, as did NiDL, AM, Squeak Squad and SSU.

I think the problem is the structure of the Kirby games in terms of how they are coded prevents people from easily changing it such that it's like Megaman / Mario romhacking.
It's not a "hard" platformer, in terms of difficulty and how Kirby controls, how the enemies act and how the game is in and of itself.
Unlike Megaman, or Mario or Doom introducing a change in the gameplay would be really difficult, if not potentially receiving backlash. Maybe if people broke Kirby the way all those games got broken, it would happen.
All I fucking want is a Kirby RPG anyway, like that one boss battle in KSS/KSSU and it's "sequel" in this game (which is really not executed well from what I've seen). If Sonic and Mario can get it, why not Kirby?

The entire game's ability variation and viability is gimped to hell because of the robot armor and every puzzle requiring a specific power/element. Shit like Mirror, Fighter, Clown, Doctor and others are rare as fuck because they have to make sure you can't get back to them as the robot because they couldn't be bothered to have a robot for each power, despite the fact that some of the robot powers don't even have move sets.

That's actually a fair point and you should've said so sooner, the robobot isn't as perfect as aome might say.
I think a robobot mode for every ability is expecting too much and would just create more problems, as the game has to make each robobot section special and it already struggles catering to all of the modes it has, this is still more super ability/hypernova than it is animal friends. Let's not forget how much extra work it would be, even if they are more limited the modes are probably harder to make than a single ability.
As for regular abilities i don't think its much fucked though, you can always keep an ability and go back through a level your way, and many of the robobot armors are totally skippable and optional. The game is also heavily fpcused on bosses, a two of ita modes are dedicated to them and they're beaten with anything and any ability is viable if you know how to use it.

In Kirby's Adventure he shattered the Star Rod in an attempt to contain Nightmare. In Dream Land 2 and 3 he was a lategame boss but posessed by Dark Matter. In 64 he is a full ally. Nothing new for him.

An incredibly short and rushed Kirby game that was dragged down by its own gimmick because it's clear after the first world they had no idea what do to with it and sacrificed the copy ability variety throughout the levels because of it. The damn thing is so incredibly underused and actually skippable a majority of the time. It's always been a little dark, especially with the Dark Matter characters.
In Dream Land 2, a malevolent entity possesses a king and takes advantage of his role as King in an attempt to plunge all of Pop-Star into utter darkness, and it's implied the only reason was because it was jealous of it's inhabitants and their inherent happiness and friendliness, of which it was incapable of feeling.
Dream Land 3 has all of it's cohorts attempt a full-scale invasion of the place, alerted by the death of the original Dark Matter. They again possess Dedede and multiple inhabitants, turning them into twisted creatures, and in the final confrontation Kirby faces their leader, a giant eye, who attacks by bleeding and hemorrhaging, eventually exploding.
Then, in 64, the remainder of the Dark Matters attempt to invade Ripple Star, possessing the Fairy Queen as a plan B in case they're thwarted, and after Kirby defeats them, he's confronted by a Dark Matter literally made up of 27 different eyes, capable of copying the abilities Kirby could and using them against them, and even then they're still strong enough to take down Ripple Star unless you purge the Fairy Queen of Dark Matter, in which case you are again confronted by the giant bleeding eye's undead shell, complete with angel wings and a halo, again bleeding on you.
Only when you kill the shell does the Dark Matter threat disappear, and there are STILL remainders of them, such as Dark Nebula, a member locked away in a chest for (presumably) centuries, and the Dark Crafter, a lonely Dark Matter who wants to suck the color from everything lively and make itself colorful, and with the clone of the Swordsman returning in Robobot, they may come back again.

That's not even counting Dark Matter's loneliness, Zero's shenanigans, and NECRODEUS. Yes, as in DEATH GOD. To be honest though, I preferred when the creepiness/edginess was more subtle like in the Dark Matter trilogy. For example, you wouldn't even know about Dark Matter's loneliness and reason for attacking dreamland unless you went out of your way to search why. Same with Zero in DL3 and 64, you had to 100% the game to even discover them and just how fucked up they were.

Haltmann's was messed up, but in a way you don't realize at first. The average Kirby fan (a kid) doesn't realize that Haltmann was literally obliterated, both mind and body, and that what's left of his soul is being tortured in the Star Dream Soul OS battle, nor do they realize how truly fucked up it is that for all the trouble he goes through to see his daughter again, attempting to build a wish-granting robot, his own daughter ends up killing him, with no remorse for it.
No average Kirby fan will realize or even know that Sectonia was corrupted by Dark Meta Knight's evil, banished inside the Dimension Mirror. They don't realize that she was normal, like Taranza, and the mirror exploded her vanity and tyrany into a monster obsessed with beauty and domination; and it was all Taranza's fault for bringing her the Mirror, when he just wanted what was best for her.
No average Kirby fan realizes that the Magolor Soul fight isn't even against Magolor or his soul; it's against the Master Crown, which had been manipulating him to take control of him, and obviously has some kind of sinister evil inside of it, which is why Landia was guarding it in the first place. Magolor experienced the destruction of his soul and body, but unlike Haltmann, he SURVIVED, having to live with the trauma of whatever the fuck it was like to be inside the Master Crown.
Dark Matter, on the other hand, you see Zero and you're like "Wait, what? Is that blood? ISn't this an E-Rated game?" and the panic level goes up reeeal fast.
But then, you know, you forget about all that when the pink 10 inch puffball comes and kicks their asses, then goes to take a nap.
