Even Kirby's Return to Dreamland, a fucking Wii Kirby game, looks better and has more creative art direction than modern Mario. Hell, most of Nintendo's GC era Mario games looked nicer. It's kind of pathetic.

NSMB is literally just Mario's budget series. I'm not saying it's shit, but you can definitely tell they're some of their cheapest games to make.

New Super Mario Bros series are basically shoverware at this point. All the effort was being put into 3D world (and arguably Mario Maker)
