It is a overrated outdated game. Playing through it is a chore.
Even though I liked all the GTA games, I don't think I could go back to any past IV. Too old. Maybe San Andreas could still hang, but I know I'd hate III and VC's controls and gameplay now

Yeah the controls are really frustrating to get back into after playing modern third person control schemes. And little anachronistic stuff like in VC and III having water insta-kill you sucks.

I can't play GTA III anymore because the world seems so empty and full of clones after a little while, since I'm used to more.
The basics are solid though and the atmosphere is superb. I honestly think it had the best atmosphere of any GTA title. Something about those brake lights turning corners on worn out streets as rain pours in the night. It just looks and feels so right.

piss easy mission I always beat first time with keyboard and mouse. The trick is to take your time, it really is that simple. Bomb it and your car will end up upside down or in a river. Only speed up on clear straight part parts of the course

The only people who say this are hardcore Vice City fanboys and hardcore San Andreas fanboys say the same on VC. No one in their right mind actual believes this. The fanbases are at odds with eachother not unlike halo and cod, MGS games, RE games, dmc 3 and 4, any FF with another, or playstation and xbox.

I think the world feels more alive than V.
The map is all city with no completely empty wasted countryside, the city gets more dangerious as the story goes on and more gangs become hostile to you, there's criminals that can steal other NPCs money and run away, fight them or steal their car, this last one they can do to you too, paramedics actually revive NPCs, there's a big variety of pedestrians and they all have some funny dianlogue, and they actually react accordingly depending on where you shoot them.
V has none of this.

Just like how PC fans never get why that Zero toy helicopter mission was hard.. thats because they gimped it for PC. It's a nightmare on original PS2.

IV was bitter sweet for me. I really liked they replication of New York, but they dropped so many features that the game felt bland beyond the main story.
