It's because the demo was insane when compared to any other. Nintendo walled off an entire area and they recreated the entire start of the demo in that area.
The demo was just alright for me, it was the presentation that killed. The demo showed me that wii u fucking sucked. Blurry ass shit, grainy as fuck. Disgusting. All the smooth and silky footage is prob from a dev rig or the nx.
Also the shirt and coin were BOUGHT for $200+. They died down now the event is over butt it still hyped up the product immensely for 2nd/3rd day.

Most of the impressions of Zero Dawn is that it's decent but nothing hugely spectacular (Some of the more negative previews said it's just a Ubi-Soft "Climb Tower-Unlock Missions" game at times)

Apparently it's just full on pirate FPS. You go to islands, pillage, sword fight with skeletons and find treasure. But the boats require a team to even just hoist anchor. It's not "One person does steering and everyone shoots at other boats" like Guns Of Icarus. Also there's no AI pirates, every other Pirate boat in the game is real players and you have to be careful if they don't go try fuck you up and take your loot.
The E3 demo just did the ship combat (The FPS combat with swords and flintlocks was disabled for the demo) and some island exploration and apparently people thought it was amazing just off that. It's making a lot of "Game of the show" shortlists (Including PC Game websites).
It's weird seeing people go crazy over a Rare game again.

The thing is that wouldn't happen. This game is a sequel and as such is influenced and builds off of previous games in the series. You can see that in the game that it is obviously building off the first Zelda as well as Windwaker and Skyward Sword.

It's not as awful as the people with strong opinions would like to tell you but it's true that it's littered with little annoyances. Depressingly linear, pretty handholdy, obvious padding here and there, not very challenging, the controls need some getting used to. Zelda was unambiguously best in show, all the webms I've downloaded can testify to that, but I really wish Gears of War 4 was getting more attention.
I know people rag on it and every other TPS for being a Gears clone, but it's very mechanically tight, especially compared to stuff like Uncharted where everything sounds impotent.
I really love the Doom-esque quasi-organic feel of the monster-infested environments, as well as the cataclysmic horror feel to it.
