I also think a lot of giant robot designs are designed oddly. Like, the design is too busy or it's too human-like.
For example, I generally like Zaku gundams the best because of their one eye. One big lens that sweeps across the head unit like a camera makes more sense to me, you know? It seems like something that could actually exist if someone had the money, time and fucks to give.

Recommend me some more "realistic" mecha games/anime.
I've seen a ton of emotional magical super mecha anime and they're just not my thing, I prefer shit like Mechwarrior and Ghost in the Shell, where mecha are treated like actual pieces of technology and not magical friendship cannons, and it helps that they have more believable designs than stuff like the OP gundam.
The only games I know of that offer what I'm looking for are Mechwarrior, so anything with that type of feel would be great.

One easy recommendation on my part would be to watch Eureka 7 but I'm a sucker forMLPso the whole positiveness and colorfulness of the show coupled with great characters was an instant buy for me.
And of course, gorgeous animation of mechs wrecking shit on surfboards in the sky... It ain't TTGL level balls to the wall crazy (Getter Robo Armageddon is that way) but it's just enough awesome to go around.
