Sonic Boom design isnt even bad. A little unnecessary but not bad.
PacMan's is pretty ugly
Banjo and Crash are even worse
But Spyro just cakes the cake out of all of them

Pacman and Banjo at least closely resemble themselves.
PacMan's issue is pretty much just the white of the eyes.
Sonic is alright, it's Desert Sonic.
Banjo is just blocky banjo in blocky world, at least Rare still touched him.
Crash is a marketing team trying and failing.
Spyro though, is putting a beloved character in the trash and leaving him to rot in shit, then dousing him in gasoline before you pull him out to shit all over him again before placing him on hot coals.

Crash is good, Pacman design is true to original, sonic is pointless but not too awful. Spyro and Banjo are abominations because they are not true to the original and came from a point of complete thirst for a new game making them even more painful. Spyro still wins because N&B was actually pretty fun and the design is more acceptable in the game's setting.

I've been suffering from a bad headache all night, seeing this just makes it feel like I'm suffering from a brain aneurysm. It's pretty hard to decide which is worse, as they're all terribly awful and completely ruin what I use to love with each character, but I suppose B&K is the worse offender since N&Bs basically shat all over the fanbase and the previous games multiple times on top of the character designs being shit.

I'd say pac-man because he lost so much charm in the transition, sure you could say the same for the rest, but crash and spyro are pretty bland in the redesign department, albeit they still look ugly compared to their originals. Banjo just seems more stylized, but I prefer cartoons strectchy over boxy looking and slutty kazooie, sonic is just taller and wear bandaged and a scarf... that's it.
in terms of game?
I'm gonna say banjo, he had big boots to fill but everyone else either died with no expectations of returning to their former glory or have nothing more to offer from their original adventures. Banjo had potential to be good, and it was tarnished by a mediocre third entry and nothing ever since.
