I fucking loved the idea of establishing a "personality" for your Hawke that'd open up or cut off new dialogue lines. The fact that consistently choosing a certain personality affected Hawke's delivery and chatter was great too. Oh it had problems, sure. But it was a new thing and was rough, like with the Mako. It could've been refined into something great for Inquisition. Except in true Bioware fashion, their thin skin made them cut it out entirely instead of refining it into something fantastic.

It's very clear that Bioware were forced to rush the game out of the door for whatever reason. The constant reuse of areas which were obviously meant to be placeholders for stuff to be modeled is one huge clue.
I also liked the idea of Friendship/Rivalries for character development, which actually made going back and replaying the game a different way interesting.
Plus, at least the plot was fucking interesting.

It's a damned shame, too, because ME1 (while the worst, gameplay-wise) was the best in terms of both plot and internal consistency.
ME1: Asari can do a mind-meld thing, but everything else is technology which gets explained. Your biotics are all direct implementations of Mass Effect to perform psuedo telekinesis, but it's all internally logical. Biotics are not magic and there is no ability without an easy, consistent explanation.
Fuck your "helmet off" feature, everyone wears a full spacesuit with helmet in vacuum or in dangerous conditions.
ME2: Biotics gain a few abilities which are a stretch for a mass effect explanation, and characters stop wearing full spacesuits in vacuum because "biotic fields".
ME3: Biotics are space magic, the Butcher of Torfan gets PTSD over some kid she saw once and dies for our sins as Space Jesus after choosing how to die for our sins from three different buttons.
Choosing to fight the Space God causes a bad ending rather than leading to an actual climax which doesn't involve talking a man to death.

I don't think that's a good idea. All dialogue options should always be available. What you're describing sounds like all the problems with the Paragon/Renegade system, only worse. You should still be able to fail persuasion checks and stuff, but you shouldn't be closed off from saying certain things based on some invisible score.

I disagree. ME2 was pretty filler-ish, but ME3 had potential. Hell, I'd go as far as saying that ME3 could have been great, as it is, as long as they'd done the climax and ending of the game right.
As it stands, London is a huge letdown. Visually it's unimpressive and feels like the staging point before the final conflict, not the final conflict of the game itself. I fully expected the game to end with fighting on the Citadel.
The climax should have been fighting across the Citadel with a Reaper chasing Shepard as he runs towards the activation of the Crucible. Once activated, two faults occur and Shepard has to make the choice between them, which becomes either the Renegade or Paragon ending.
I expected bombast and explosions for the finale. ME1 and ME2 all ended with rollercoaster climaxes which played up the intensity of the action. ME3, capping off the trilogy, should have done the same.
I knew Shepard was dying when I started ME3. I expected Shepard to go out like a boss, activating the Crucible after being chased through the Citadel by Harbinger, giving the giant motherfucker a shit-eating smile or quip while ending his entire race or perhaps with a quip about "You will end because I demand it."
I will never not be angry about ME3.

I said that them being universally considered beautiful by everyone allows them to take alien partners, which their society views as a good thing. If they are not universally considered beautiful, but just another regular alien species, then mating exclusively with aliens will no longer be possible, because not enough aliens will find them attractive enough to forsake mating with their own species. This will change their society fundamentally, as exclusive mating with aliens will not be enough to sustain their population. Purebloods will no longer be considered a bad thing, because if there are no purebloods, the species will die out.

1. They're a race that are beautiful. I have no idea why or how they became that, but they are a race that everyone universally considers beautiful.
2. They have a weird way of breeding which doesn't actually combine the parents' genetic information, but rather uses the "father's" genetic information to randomize, scramble, and presumably mutate the "mother's".
These two facts combined mean that can sustain a population by mating exclusively with aliens. They don't need two Asari to make a child, and aliens consider all Asari beautiful, so they're willing to forsake having a partner of their own race.
Take the first point out of the equation and make Asari be just another regular alien race when it comes to appearance. Look around you. How many females around you would you happily take as your wife, based on looks alone? I'm betting not all of them, or even half of them. This suddenly means that a lot fewer aliens would be willing to take an Asari wife instead of one of their own species, which they have evolved to find attractive. And that means that the Asari can't sustain a population exclusively through breeding with aliens. That means one of their societal pillars will crumble. Pureblood will no longer be a bad thing, because they're the only way to sustain their population.
I legitimately don't know how to make my point any clearer. Learn english, it's the only advice I can give you.
