Doom 3 uses a bullshit adaptative fps count. If you cant reach 60, it locks on 30, if it cant reach 30, it locks on 16 (maybe there are something in between 16 and 30)
I fixed mine by forcing Vsync (i think) off on my driver. I only know how to mess with nvidia, though, so good luck.

How? That would just ruin the whole game for me. I will sacrifice performance if it gets me better graphics. I'm playing on Ultra settings and hovering at around 30-40 FPS. Which would be unacceptable for some around here I'm sure.
But that is not even the worst. I had to be playing Far Cry 3 on around 20 FPS for half the game because I would not play it on lower than High settings. I didn't even know how much the game was chugging (just thought it was how the game was) until I upgraded my computer and started playing it again. The amount of performance drop I will put up with in a game in the name of something pretty to look at is astounding.

I've built 5 PC's for friends and I tell them to spend 700 minimum, 900 if they need a monitor and all peripherals. Its simply not worth gimping your CPU/GPU to save 200 bucks when a good set can last half a decade easy. Hell, I'm still using a 2009 i7 that works wonders.
Downloaded the Doom demo and played on a 2011 rig, so it's on the lowest config (except internal resolution). At least the game ran decently without being unplayable (on 16:9 ratio ran like shit)

I've seen certain artists make about 100 bucks easily per night. There are many styles of commissions and the better your skills the more expensive you can charge.
There's one specific artist with a heavily stylized but symple artstyle that makes about 2~3 overnight sketches, each sketch costs about 40~70 burberbucks.

I know that suffering. I finished Witcher 2 twice on a 2011 toaster laptop, with all on low and HD resolution. It ran at 20-25fps but the game was so good I didn't care.
Also I finished both AssCreed 2 and Brotherhood on a GT8500. It was even worse than how Witcher 2 ran (15-20fps), but again, that time I didn't care about high graphics, 60fps or good resolution. I was glad the game at least ran.
