I literally want both options btw. I watch anime and nearly everyone in the main seiyuu cast has shown up in shows I've enjoyed. But I also thought Catherine and Persona 3/4 had standout performances for dubs, and thought that the localization of the script did a good job in making the game's script charming in a language I can read. It's frustrating because countless other games prove dual audio is not only a possibility but the norm.

I just don't get how a game that is basically guaranteed to make Atlus some good money in the west like Persona 5 if going to have a 5 month fucking wait for the localization. I get that Square-Enix is an infinitely more well funded group, but they are able to do simultaneous releases, why can't Atlus at least manage like a two to three month discrepancy? And then to add insult to injury, dub only. Whoever is handling this game in the west probably should stop handling localization's, cause they're bad at it.

That's mostly because it was made my Japanese people. It's kind of ambiguous where it takes plac. There are just little things in the dialogue and style that seemed Japanese. Like the way Vincent's apartment looked and stuff like that. A voice actor in America is a failed actor who couldn't do anything else and hates their job. A seiyuu is a professional worker with proper training, who can also sing or do some other variety of voice work who put in a lot of effort on that career path.

Learn the kana in a week (any more than 2 weeks and you might be retarded). Don't worry about instantly recalling them and being able to write them perfectly 100% of the time. You use them so much that you'll have them all down before you know it. Just work enough so that you can recognize and read them all, even if it takes a second. Download the Genki textbooks. Read them, do the exercises, take notes. Download anki and make customs decks for kanji and vocab. Add the words you know from Genki and the kanji (I also keep a kanji notebook). Once you're done with Genki, buy some easy manga like Yotsuba. Look up new words and add the to anki, and ask someone for help with grammar constructs you don't understand. If you read something and you kind of think it makes sense because you recognize the words but it seems off, then you're probably reading it wrong. At this time, also make a lang 8 account and post journals for nips to correct, but more importantly find some nips learning English to add on skype so you can find one you trust and ask each other questions and practice talking. Keep reading shit until the grammar comes naturally and you know lots of words and kanji. Enjoy manga, anime, LNs, VNs and vidya properly.

The Persona 3 and 4 dubs, besides Fuuka, are pretty good though so I really don't care that much. no dual audio is a budgetary constraint. Putting the japanese VO into the US release means you have to pay them more. They signed contracts just for the japanese release. Persona is a niche franchise, it doesn't rake in the cash like final fantasy does.

The games really are relatively short stories stretched out to fit 80 hours. Persona 4 would have been somewhat better if there were two rescues a month and a month or two was cut.
I played and enjoyed Persona 1 and 2, but 3 and 4 were pretty bad and I don't know why they're so popular. There's games that do the RPG/dungeon crawling better, and there are VNs that will be better than social links if you want social sims.
