I strongly dislike the dark future we're headed towards. What can be done?

you don't need video games, they are dumb pointless luxuries.
if you want said luxuries, you have to deal with dumb shit aka windows 10.
either drop the unnecessary PC video games or deal with what comes with PC video games.

psh, Linux is gaining more support every day and will totally be an alternative in the future for new titles. Besides, you can always pirate w7 and run it with pci-passthrough for exclusive games

Vista wasn't even a bad OS if you weren't trying to run it on the same IDE/AGP-laden shitboxes that you insisted were running XP for half a decade, most of it's fuck-ups came from the (optional) UAC and intrusive indexing services, with most others being bad driver supports, ESPECIALLY when it came to wifi and Nvidia cards, SP1 fixed most OS-based shit
eventually people will get sick of microsofts bullshit. Their forced windows 10 upgrade has actually and unironcally caused some major problems for some people and i wouldnt be surprised if a class action lawsuit wasnt in the works. Forcing an automatic windows 10 update is literally no different than spyware, microsoft is fucked.

Play old games. Everything after the 6th generation is mostly bad anyway.
Play old games with modding tools. Get involved in the community and help it to grow. Older, better games will get new content, so people don't have to plug in to the dark future just to play something new.
