>Fans of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door could be in for a treat as Nintendo has said that they could be open to a remaster of the beloved title. The news came in a video courtesy of GameXplain who had the opportunity to interview Risa Tabata, the Assistant Director behind Paper Mario: Color Splash. Here’s what was said during the interview.
>GameXplain: As Andre touched on earlier, the game looks fantastic. Have you considered the idea of remastering an older Paper Mario game in high definition, like The Thousand-Year Door?

It was "DUDE PAPER LMAO" before Sticker Star and Coler Splash were.
The original Paper Mario was presented as a story book and was called Mario Story in Japan. Paper was an aesthetic choice to match that setting.
For TTYD they just threw that out the window and thought "HOW CAN WE FOCUS ON THE FACT HE'S MADE OF PAPER?"

I'm not sure an HD rerelease would even do anything for the already high stylized art of TTYD, which still holds up quite well today. I could see a rerelease of PM64 with updated graphics doing well though.

I'd just like a virtual console release. I want to replay TTYD, but if nintendo remastered it, it would be 60 dollars for a 12? year old game, and no one would buy it.
If they did remaster it, hopefully they would remove all backtracking though. No one would have complained that TTYD was too short, I don't know what goes through their fucking heads when they decide that they need to tarnish their games with backtracking just to make it longer
