I've never played a Zelda game in my entire life but this upcoming release has got me hyped. Good job, Nintendo.

Anyone else on the same boat as me?
>>
Me. I've only played ALttP for half an hour and stopped for some reason. I really should play them though at some point.
>>
Same, got me hyped and now i wanna play other Zelda games. What games should i play to get ready for this one??
>>
>>341637951
Twilight Princess and Wind Waker
>>
>>341637951
Ocarina of Time
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Majoras Mask
Try A Link Between Worlds for that sweet top down flavor
>>
>>341638016
>>341638259
what about Skyward Sword?
>>
>>341637951
Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past are the series standards. All the ones on the Gameboy/Gameboy Color are pretty great, too. As far as more recent ones, Twilight Princess is pretty good.

I have a hard time recommending that one. It completely does away with the exploration aspect, focuses more on linear areas, has lots of dialogue and handholding, it's basically the polar opposite of everything we've seen out of Breath of the Wild. Some people like it but I think it misses a lot of what I like about the series.

Not a single zelda? do you live under a rock or something? go emulate a link to the past right away,It's the base formula game used troughout the franchise and arguably the best 2D Zelda.

Maybe do Oot later, but the new zelda Is not out yet and not playing a single zelda is a level below normie.

ALttP is the most beginner friendly I suppose. OoT is ALttP 3d. If you want more all GBC and LoZ are perfect.

Honestly, I have no idea how anyone has never played a SINGLE Zelda game in their life before. It's fucking Zelda.
>>
OoT and MM for sure will get you ready for BotW. I'd also recommend aLttP and Link's Awakening if you don't mind 2D.

>I've never played a Zelda game in my entire life
how
There's one every gen.
>>
All Zelda except the spinoffs are decent starting points

Twilight Princess takes a long time to be fun though, Who ever thought that opening sequence of the first 3 dungeons was good deserved to be shot.

But it becomes really good after that

>I've never played a Zelda game
How?
>this upcoming release has got me hyped
Is this some sort of shill thread? Does Zelda really need one?
>>
>>341640629
>I only played one game in the series
>I loved it
>never played any others to see if I loved them like I did the one I played
I don't get it.

Also, shame on all of you for not recommending the Oracle games or the original 2 LoZ games.

one of the things I like about the Zelda franchise is that each installment isn't just a retread of the last. I know that's the meme, but it really ain't true.

TP was pretty much another OoT, that's true.

But then the DS games featured a completely different control scheme, the structure of the game involved going back to a central dungeon to make new progress (which I liked, the feeling of revisiting old floors and just skipping 90% of them thanks to your new tools was great) and the boat/train stuff.

SS was linear like you described, but tried to be more engaging with the overworld, dragging dungeon-esque elements into it.

And just when the idiots thought Zelda was ruined forever with full linearity, the very next game ALBW tells you to do the dungeons in any damn order you want.

Now we're non-linear again it seems, or at least open-world. Still not clear on how you get the runes, do you just get them all in the first hour of playing and cruise til the end of the game? Or will there be a "recommended" order of going through the dungeons?

It's just really cool to see the same central ideas re-worked with different graphical styles, controls, themes, and structure changes. Even if the most recent Zelda doesn't float your boat, there's always a chance the next one could be the very best ever.

one of my oldest friends is a microsoft fanboy and has never been into nintendo but he told me that him and his Gf are so excited for Zelda that they want to buy an NX. i was surprised when he told me he was watching the treehouse stream. This is seriously turning heads

Look at the E3 day 3 rush to play the demo

To /v/, not 4chan. I can tell you're one of those faggots who think that 4chan is too superior for a simple abbreviation. Seriously, you edgelords are what's wrong with this website.
>>
I've never really played a Zelda game either but this one looks pretty neat
>>
>>341643767
It's funny, for as much as the news that it would be cross-generational pissed people off, it's looking like that was probably a smart move to drum up interest in the next system and to make sure this game doesn't bomb.

>browses a video game board

This board is fucking garbage now
>>
>>341644068
Go play Zelda 1, ALttP, and OoT.
>>
>>341637042
the only good zelda game was mask
and even then it can't stand as a standalone
>>
>>341644068
Play all of the Zelda games except Majora's Mask (just a rehash of Ocarina of Time), the DS games (Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks) and Skyward Sword.
>>
>>341637042
Nope.

t. not a pleb
>>
>>341637042
Played some OoT MM and GameBoy titles, but that's about it. Smash if that counts in any context too.

Although what interests me the most about what BotW has shown is moreso how there's seemingly much more thought into gameplay uses for the wide-open world and designs than just, say, regular open-ness itself like Bethesda RPGs or Witcher.

My first game was Zelda 1. Zelda was my favorite series on the Nes, SNES and N64. But I haven't been hyped for a Zelda game in 15 years. Until this one.
>>
>>341637042
Yeah, I've never played a Zelda game before either, I only had PlayStations growing up.
