I've been getting really into Gothic lately. Learned how to lockpick and sneak yesterday so I've been going around the Old Camp opening everyone's chests and stealing all their ore. I'm not entirely sure where I want my character to go skill-wise. I heard it's best to go 2handed with loads of strength. Also what happens when I join a camp? Am I unable to complete the entry quests for other camps?

Yes.
Do all the entry quest first, then join a camp. I think it's best to join Old Camp on your first run since they get the most content and a small plot twist later on.
