Only worked on the demo, not the main game. Ask me whatever question you like and I might answer it. I will not be posting much proof because the team that developed the demo is quite small and it would be too easy to get caught with specifics. All of what I say though will come to light eventually, so you'll see.
Things from the old thread I feel I should restate:
-Released and currently unwinnable demo
-This was done to draw massive attention to the game
-Patch with ending (which will literally uncomment code with the last three steps) is coming Sunday @ 7am
-No one on the team agreed with the decision to release the game in an unbeatable state, but were threatened to do so.
-No one working on the demo has ties to the real title
-Yes they wanted us to make a PT clone of course.

First person will be kept, as the main game plans to be the first of its kind quality wise in VR. Interestingly enough, people are very upset about this decision, so there is now discussion of adding an optional third person mode which would also be added to the demo in a future update for players to experience.
I know there are currently 13 different guns in the assets, 3 kinds of traps/explosives, and 5 melee weapons. The inventory system is exactly the same as in the demo and past games.
Story wise, the demo shows how Umbrella corp was testing its bio weapons in secluded areas unbeknownst to the locals.

You also bring up a good point though. Some things in the demo, I feel, are just for show. Like the Simplygon logo on the microwave. I saw multiple people actually trying to analyze the meaning of that, even though it was simply a credit to Simplygon, a proprietary LOD system that the RE engine uses. Like that's an extremely obvious example but honestly this demo could just be a small preview of what's to come and could even be intended to not be some obscure puzzle, despite initially seeming like it.

Most people probably aren't going to go barreling ahead, and you might not even realize it's an invisible wall the first time around even if you do run into it. I was excited for the demo and finding all kinds of neat things like the lockpick, but after 3 days now I believe there is nothing left. Which means putting the axe and especially the finger in is a complete bullshit move on Capcom's part. By the way this demo is barely polished. I don't think they actually put much thought into it as people thing they did. If you move boxes into the kitchen from upstairs, they will be visible from the stairs portion of the map. But when you go into the kitchen they disappear.
If you bring the baby to the living room, the baby doesn't go into it.
If you push a box in the attic on to the stairs that lead up to the attic, the box falls through the stairs.
I don't think this demo was supposed to have anything super deep besides the ghost girls because it was just meant to be a demo. Everyone is just rolling on PT hype and Capcom isn't saying anything for PR.

I personally found a lot of little similarities. The house you're in feels like a house from 4 only with a faded version of the decor from the mansion in the first one. The music when it does come in has little instances where it feels like the music from the first. Also picking up items, from the noise it makes to the text and even the inventory screen all felt very resi to me. And I've been playing these games since 1995.

The instant game over thing I've a major feeling is gonna be demo only. It's a way to end the demo on a dramatic note, not a gameplay mechanic. And REmake wasn't very campy either to be fair, less straightfaced than this but the last time the series needed a shake up we got 4, this could be the next big step forward.
