No, fuck stick. WW1 in 1918 was pretty mobile, essentially proto-WW2 stuff. I can appreciate why DICE wanted to set it then, because otherwise they'd just be making Verdun and someone already did that. So that's fine. And all the automatic weaponry, while pretty unrealistic in its availability, is fine too, because it'd get a bit dull just using the same bolt-action rifles for everyone all the time. So what we should get is proto-WW2 combat, lots of artillery, some antiquated stuff that looks funny, hooray it's WW1.

DICE has stated that they wanted to go a different direction with this game which is why Italy and Austria-Hungary are the other theater besides Brits and Germans. The game will eventually have every major nation involved in the war as a multiplayer faction so it isn't like they lied. Last, BF1 isn't going to be like BF2 or 1942 where major factions had their own separate vehicles and kits so the only thing that changes is flavor text and character model. They were literally wet all the time. Getting fungus infections on their feet while they couldn't take off their boots for days. I think my problem with all this is how everyone tries to downplay videogames as a legit form of media. And I don't know how schools are, but for me WW1 was always glossed over in favor of WW2 because we had more presence there and it was likely that we knew someone that was in it.

The game looks just like BF4 or 3 (or even Hardline): Semi-big map with retarded capture point locations that make the game into FFA deathmatch after the first 2 minutes, where you can expect enemies everywhere, regardless of their spawn positions. The only reason I (and probably a lot of people) was interested in BF1 was because it had the potential to play differently to BF3 and BF4.
Now that the tank and infantry combat has been revealed to be almost identical to BF4, there's no reason to care about it at all.
The sad thing is that battlefront's hoth map will probably be end up being closer to the sort of WW1 game that people were hoping for, compared to what BF1 is looking like at the moment.

Look, what I'm saying is that the industry as a whole doesn't give a fuck what happens on /v/ outside of "are they saying nice/bad things about our game". In that regard we're no different from Neogaf or Reddit or any other community.
