So the new Xbone Scorpio will have an equivalent GPU to the GTX 980/R9 290X. That said I've had my GTX 980 for about two years now so what should I upgrade to for all the unoptimized console ports?
I've been eyeing off the GTX 1080, but should I wait for the R9 490X? Any ETA for that GPU?
Pic related is my current and ageing PC.
Why not go SLI? GTX 980s are affordable as fuck now so you should be able to get another one, or two for less than a single GTX 1080.

The GTX 980 has been on the market for over two years and has been superseeded by a new architecture so it's not too unreasonable for consoles to have them now. Plus Nvidia has been able to shrink desktop GTX 980s to fit in laptops. Those are much more powerful than original mobile GTX 980Ms.
