These games are pretty great and unique in design.
Tingle is the best Jew Simulator out there, Hatsworth gets pretty hectic, and Meteos is wonderful once you learn how to chain.
One underrated game I like is Nostalgia. It's a pretty decent RPG that feels kind of like Skies of Arcadia. (Obviously nowhere near as good as that game though)

It has a lot of detail into its world and characters to help make it more immersive and come alive. Every little detail of the world is explained, and even random side characters have you learn a bit about their lives so that they come off as more human (so to speak). The music is pretty, and the story has a lot of really crazy reveals and twists. The game is sort of built like Gurren Lagann in a way; the first half seems really simple and then things go nuts in the second half. Also because it has such a strong emphasis on story (and barely any on combat), the game benefits from its well written characters as its easier to care about what happens to them. Same goes for its world, really. Every character has a reason for acting the way they do.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the game's length. Solatorobo is 20 hours long overall, and that's if you do every sidequest. (though most sidequest s add to the characters and/or world, so its worth doing this). Just make sure you don't assume the game is over after beating the first half. You'll know what I mean.

I couldn't into Infinite Space. Trying to juggle destroying three separate ships (That could all attack you at the same time while you can't) when you could only fight one at a time while they could all blast you in three hits was impossible. Especially since you had to play back and forth.

All I really remember is that the final boss was kinda trivialized by using a Gun & Shield combo, with liberal sprinkling of fully charged gun shots… and I always did the tournament for the swords school, so my gun skill maxed at 10.

While I certainly was youger at the time, I, too, had mixed feelings. I hadn't played the prequel, but the pain of destroying all you had accomplished only to find out it was all a dream? I get you. I really liked nostalgia for the real world ties. And flying a customizable airship while fighting other air ships and traveling to the Egyptian pyramids or Mayan temples or Moscow or new York was just so fucking awesome even if the combat and gameplay were your typical classic type which was still fine by me.
Isometric metroidvania with awesome combat and good challenge. It even had some platforming but those were mostly hit or miss.

Loved the whole "materia" magic system where you could actually while co-op stack a stairway of magic to climb to places you shouldn't yet. And picking up and throwing your friends into the abyss was always hilarious. My favorite class was the bow user one who could double jump, forgot thier names.

I've actually started becoming a big Tales fan lately. I beat Tales of Hearts R and really loved it. Now I'm going through Tales of the Abyss and love it nearly the same. I will play all the Tales games if they have good stories/character interactions/etc like that. I must find this.

Yeah I loved hearts r and abyss too. Innocence is great combat wise like hearts R. Only the dungeons and guild quests were lacking but the characters and thier interactions were great. Also the story. Oh man the story was fucking awesome with past lives and reincarnation and gigantic hilly was and all that shit.

This is actually the last GTA game that I can say that I legit enjoyed. The story doesn't take itself too seriously, the graphics are great, the city feels alive and the little touches/mini games like having to hotwire parked cars yourself were great. Drug dealing is also really addictive.
