MKX is the only good MK, in my opinion. I never played MK9, though. It might be good. I think the rest have always had some cool ideas but abysmal execution. Up until MK9 the games always tried to coast on their concept alone.
I still think on a higher level the game is annoying to play (too much juggle bullshit), but when it comes to just fucking around in medium or hard in single player it's pretty solid.

Gameplay feels fine to me, I'm not really a fan of the variations mechanics, you'll always end choosing the one that allows you to use your favorite special moves and the whole variation novelty gets lost.
Netcode seems equally shitty as MK9 to me, had the same amount of issues on both of them.
The main issue here is how atrocious the PC port is, and the fact that NRS dropped support on it without even trying to fix it.

Seems HVS is simply bad at that, they fucked up a konami game port in the past, so bad that konami had to pay another team to fix it. That what NRS should have done with MKX, Why did they get HVS in the first place? Dunno but they probably were cheap as fuck.
In my opinion they barely tested the port, or they would have noticed all the wrong stuff with it, and all the stuff they could have optimized.
