Don't really care. If the voice acting is outright awful there's typically an option to turn off voices. Can't understand Japanese anyway. Honestly, some of the cheesy charm of the Persona games come from the stilted dialogue. Hell, I can probably count on one hand the amount of times where voice acting was actually just bad. Most of the time it ranges from mediocre to pretty good. Some lines are great, stuff like Akihiko breaking down at school after Shinji dies and a majority of Kanji's dialogue is fantastic.
I trust that the dub will be alright. Maybe not as great as the VAs they have for the Japanese version but I'd be a liar if I said I can appreciate voice acting for a language I don't understand. Persona 3 and 4 didn't have dual audio to my knowledge so it doesn't surprise me to see that trend continue. It'd be nice to have dual audio as an option, but after years of this no one should be surprised or upset by the lack of it considering the track record.

The only ones that argue for this are lazy americans that never watch anything not made by Hollywood.
Meanwhile literally the rest of the world will prefer subtitles every single time over dubbing because we understand how important it is to watch things in the original language, even if we don't understand it entirely. Too many things are lost in translation and usually the dubbing doesn't receive half of the attention that the original cast had. This is specially true for vidya as developers in Japan oversees the acting done for their own games while they leave dubbing for third parties.
Not to mention that the whole appeal of weeb franchises like Persona is that it is Japanese. You don't want to hear some American 28 year old lady pretending to be a 14 year old high schooler using shit like -san or -chan every now and then. It feels off, it's terrible and it is unacceptable.
Lucky for me I'm learning enough to be able to play this in Japanese in a few months but I feel for everyone else that has to deal with Atlus's bullshit. When I was a hit it made my piss burn to a boil every fucking time an American movie came over and I only had dubbing available, it was fucking terrible and no one but the illiterate should have to use it.

If they want to settle for a lesser experience, sure. I recall watching the Terminator in my native language when i was a kid and then rewatching it later as an adult in English. The dub completely killed Arnold's voice which is half the fun of those movies.

I haven't played the, in English, but what I've heard of Persona 4's VA is actually pretty good, I think. Not a big fan of Nanako's, she tries but her Japanese VA does the cute loli voice so much better. Really like Laura Bailey as Rise, though I don't mind her Japanese VA either. Persona 3 though... I've heard even less of that one's English VA, but Mitsuru's VA just doesn't fit her character at all.
Might play Persona 5 in English though, Persona games are harder to me to play in Nip because there's so much dialogue in them that I don't care about that it becomes very hard to focus. Same thing happens when I play English games, but I have to work less hard to get the gist of things.

Watching English movies subbed was essential to my English learning process and the same is true for any other language. Once you get the initial ropes you can rely on subs to give you the context and follow what is being said by the characters in the original language.
Moreover, the main point is not that things are lost in translation (which is still a shame), but is the fact that dubbers rarely perform as well as the original actors due to the lack of directing and the fact that the american VA industry for games is super fucking shit.

Since games are more expensive in Japan they felt the need to region lock it to stop reverse importing hurting Japanese sales. I stopped watching dubs when I was a literal fucking child. I think I had some Gundam or some shit on DVD and went back and forth between the English and Jap tracks, discovering that the Jap track fit the characters and tone much better. The voices and delivery were much more in line with what the characters were saying.
I had no trouble with subs as a fucking kid, yet grown ass adults can't handle it. It's absurd.
I can't imagine watching a fucking live action movie dubbed. Why would they even dub a live action movie? Pan's Labyrinth, for example, needed to be watched in Spanish. Why would I watch it in English?

Two, I am fine without dual audio. While I recognize that sub is better than dub, I don't see this as a "no buy" situation. This isn't the end of the world and I think people are overreacting.
Three, I have faith in Atlus USA's localization, even just a little bit. I mean, P3 and P4 were fine dubbed, even though sure there were some cringey parts but it was good overall.

Atlus has no track record of dual audio, the Persona/SMT games have never had dual audio (to my knowledge), why would they start now?
It's really just not worth getting upset about, especially since you can likely just turn the voices off if the dub bothers you that much, and you'd get exactly as much out of silence as you would the JP track, unless you understand JP, in which case, just buy the JP version.

I just sent a polite email to [email protected]. Telling them that even though I do appreciate and respect the effort they're putting in the dub, I would really appreciate it if they considered to implement Japanese voices in the game, whether as free or paid DLC later on (as I understand the additional costs this could bring). Telling them this would make New Game + more diverse, and also help people studying Japanese like I am. That also, I understand that usually, Atlus wouldn't like that because of reverse importing, but that the delay between the JP and US release would probably make up for it.
Of course, most of this is bullshit, but hey, this is still better than shitposting on 4chan.
