It has some interesting ideas that weren't executed well at all. Some of the gameplay is neat but the whole talenting system is retarded and some of the characters are really badly designed.
I think it may have had a chance if it launched F2P. It would have gotten a lot more traction being free with its high production values and served as a very strong counterpoint to overwatch where as right now its just failing laughably to compete with it even thought they're very different games.

In defense of this, Borderlands delivers all of its dialog through a radio to the player, and the very long-winded dialog was designed that way intentionally. Players often have to travel decent lengths from point A to point B when doing main or side quests, and the long dialog gives the player something to listen to while doing that.
