Battlefield 3 is in my opinion what started the downfall of the franchise. I could live with the Bad Company games since they were spin-offs to the core series but BF3 was a bloated mess, I even prefer playing BF4 since it offers a classic mode which hones the gameplay mechanics of BF2.
