>I don't for
Meant idort
>Tell me about your poor game struggles.
I'm not poor anymore, but about 10 years ago I couldn't afford any games.
I had a crappy laptop with a broken screen and keyboard that I hooked up to a CRT and external keyboard and a 20" CRT TV from like 1986. I saved up for years and eventually bought an Xbox 360 to play on my 20" CRT. I had like one or two games. I pretty much 100%'d Assassin's Creed on my stupid tiny SDTV just because I couldn't afford any other games.
After AC I got Mass Effect and my friends ridiculed me for not getting it on PC. I didn't want to admit to them that I couldn't afford a gaming quality PC so I pretended PC gaming was for nerds and became a consolefag. All my friends had such good times playing PC games together, times they still reminisce about to this day, so to this day I regret not getting into PC gaming 10 years ago like everyone else I know. I missed out on so many fun times.
Now I'm old and bitter about games so I can't have much fun except for a very small handful of games. I missed out on so much because I was poor. I hate my life.
>>341531831

Although I only end up with around $135ish after bills, rent, food, gas, and student loan payments anyway (useless degree)
Can't afford to spend that anyway because I need it if something goes wrong with my car, so I don't buy games anymore unless I sell my expensive TF2 items that I've come across over the years. Usually I just pirate.

I was born in 1990 and my first gaming console was a Gameboy Pocket. My Dad refused to buy me video games before that point and I would argue that is why I play so much of them to this day. I didn't get any sort of allowance so "saving up for something" is only really for the middle-class and above. Usually would get a game for my birthday and Christmas. I only played on handhelds up until late into the PS2's lifecycle. After that I graduated highschool and used the graduation money from all my relatives to buy a 360 and after that I bought all my own vidya/built my own PC using money from my job.
I was pretty lucky compared to some but was always envious of those that were able to grow up playing PS1/N64 because whenever I went to friends' houses with those consoles it's all I ever wanted to do.

I am gonna be 100% honest with you here. Complete current gen idort here (handhelds included) and the best advice I can recommend is to only join master race if you play a lot of games with your friends on PC. I built my PC a couple years ago with upgrades here and there but my friends built PC's before that and never upgraded them and instead bought PS4 for this gen. I was able to afford both but don't really play that much on PC as I would like because every multiplayer game that is multiplat they just get on PS4. Overwatch is one of the most angry I've been with my friends because I wanted to get it on PC but none of them wanted to get it on PC and instead opted for the PS4 version. It feels like shit to play but it would be even worse to play solo.
If you just play solo most of the time then just make the jump to PC gaming. There is no way your backlog is completely cleared out and a single steam sale will fill it the fuck up for super cheap.

And what's with all the green and yellow stickers on your vidya? Are they ALL ex-rentals?
Plus you have a tiny house in an empty state, and can only afford that by carefully controlling your and your fiances financials. Sure, you saved up for the chinese knock-off of the american dream, but is it truly living? Where are you gonna be left when your fiance leaves you and your meagre walmart paycheck isn't enough to meet the week to week?
I'd much rather have a modest apartment in a decent sized city where amenities are at hand. Where I can easily reduce my costs if I'm finding it hard to get by or money is tight because of unforeseen circumstances.
>>341539810
I live in a town of about 15,000 people in the Midwest. It's actually pretty nice, has a lot of lakes and parks. The people living in my house were smokers and renting it from the owners, and it was in such a shitty shape it scared everybody away which really brought the price down. The owners just wanted it gone and accepted my pretty low offer. So I got a house that needed a hardcore cleaning and updating but it has decent square footage for a first house and it's in a nice area, so it worked out well.
But yeah, a house this price in any city over 20,000 people is probably going to be a condemned crackhouse.

Exactly this. It's amazing how awful most people are with money. My wife does a lot of home visits for poor clients and they will have shit like boxes of DVDs they add a few to each month and ringback tones on their cells, but unable to afford clothes for their kids or fill their cars with gas.

I work as a software engineer, still in my first year out of college. I think everyone agrees that you don't need certification/schooling for it, but it certainly helps getting you that first job. who needs tv when you have internet?
who needs a landline when u can have a cheap clunker cellphone?

Rent in my area starts at about $1200($800 in dirty crime areas), $200 minimum male car insurance, $200 mandatory medical insurance for me+spawn, almost $500/mo in child support, and a child to support because the state doesn't actually give that money to her mother. I make about $2400 base pay before taxes, take home $1800. I'd lose money every month if I couldn't get overtime.
One of my biggest money savers is just eating $0.10~$0.33 cup of noodle for lunch/dinner during my work days.Hopefully I do well in my new job & they keep me long term so I can stop being poor and not go into child support debt
>>341541125

Renting is money you will never see back.

Yeah in America you're not seen as a proper man by the opposite gender unless you move out into your own place at 18. God forbid a female do it though, they get a free pass until their mid 20's to live at home with no repercussions. Medicaid provides assistance to poor people. Insurance is provided by your employer in most cases, if not premiums are fairly low for young healthy people (well obamacare fucked some of this i think, have been up north for a long time) . Companies trying to make a profit have more of an incentive to provide good service for competitive reasons, government has no such incentive, and has to deal with the incompatible demand of less taxes and a better system. As a result it's a fucking joke here. I should probably just start driving to seattle for care.

I would earn money for chores once in a while, but I wouldn't always spend it on vidya (I bought action figures, hot wheels, yugioh cards at one point). Plus, we lived in the mountains, so we were easily 6 months- 1 year behind everyone else on the latest trends and technology, etc.. Sometimes we would go down the mountain to a bigger city like San Bernardino and if my brother and I were good, we could pick out a cheap game.
My first game was Mario on my Dad's SNES and Golden Axe (among others) on his Genesis. I played his old Gameboy every so often until my brother and I got our own Gameboys for Christmas (first game was Crash Bandicoot, I think my brother got Mario.)

it could be that easy. i know a couple of people who completely scammed the VA for 100% compensation (about $3,000 a month for the rest of their lives assuming they have a spouse). it just depends on who your doctor is and what the high brass in D.C. determine you. unless there's downsizing, most military doctors (at least navy doctors from my experience) will do everything to keep you in. i could be wrong because i've heard the complete opposite. either way, a lot of people get fucked over.

In all honesty, my issue isn't with my roommates. They may be terrible with money, but they still pay it back, even if it's usually a month late.
My issue is with Murphy's Law happening all the damn time.
Be it being stuck with a worthless car with a shitty interest rate because of student loans.
Or said worthless car breaking down and costing $2600 to get fixed up.
Or said car still having major issues with it such as a fucked up front fender that literally fell off one day.
I've considered breaking off from my roommates, but it doesn't help that even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have any new roommates to do that with, or literally can't because of how brutal living expenses are when you're alone in VA.

Ride a bike?
I commute a little over 17 miles a day on bike and its not too bad. Its Texas summer now so its hot as fuck but I grew up in California so I'm used to it. Just get something with 700c tires and no frills so its not too heavy and you should be able to manage a few days out of the week to start to build up endurance.
Saves me gas money, saves me having to worry about breakdowns because I can fix that shit myself on the side of the road.

There's nothing wrong with being in the military, especially if that's where your passion is.
It sounds like maybe you could benefit from talking to somebody who is in the military. See if you can do that. Talk to several people.

The breeze would be going north and south. No moving air "but you guys have fans" which just blew hot air at you. Of it was 90F outside it was 105F inside. All but like 3 of us were backwoods ass uneducated rednecks that made doing your damn job impossible and unbearable.
Point is, if you are willing to put up with the shittiest of work environments for the paycheck, go for it. But it may not be worth it. Might be different for you, but it's been the same for every plant I've ever worked at.
