The game's tone feels a bit too subdued and moody to be edgy. Its hard to put in objective terms, but they game does not feel like its trying to be offensive, it just has the series' usual occult mythology thing going on.
For what its worth, the Great Will in SMT is kind of a shithead.

SMT deities and demons are just as much characters as any human in the series, and YHVH is no exception.
YHVH is basically just the epitome of the "law" side of the typical SMT law vs. chaos dynamic with a heaping helping of mythology slapped on it, like everything else in this series.
